Nice hotel for a group of friends who need just basics and a place to sleep. Great location and bathroom, specially showers have a good standard. Ok bed, cleaners were nice and local. Did not try breakfast, but was told it was great.

Another enjoyable stay at this hotel. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Room was really comfortable and cosy. Food in restaurant was very tasty. The breakfast sets you up for the day. It is a bit old fashioned but that is what I like about it. Will be back later in year!

We booked this hotel through its own web site and got the wonderful bargain they call "The Deal of Deals" and it sure is. Apart from the great price there are some vouchers thrown in for drinks and afternoon tea. The Ash Restaurants meals were excellent and priced OK if you used a voucher. The buffet breakfast was all you...

Not entirely sure where to start with this hotel. Firstly, there were actually some good points. It wasn’t crazy expensive for a city centre hotel (£110 for two nights); most of the staff seemed fairly friendly; the TV in the room was mahoosive; the complimentary bottles of spring water were a nice touch; the shower gel was decent; and the...

Met with friends from different parts of Scotland for a 2night stay at the hotel. It is very comfortable, in a central location next to train & bus stations & the off season deal was absolutely excellent value with bed & breakfast both nights, dinner on 1 night plus cocktails for 2.......amazing! It is close to a large range of...

Stayed in old fashioned Royal Highland Hotel. Next to train station and just along from bus station - perfect location for Inverness. Rooms were well equipped with bottled water, and huge range of drink options. I loved the old pictures in hotel and spent long time looking at these. Although the hotel and rooms look old fashioned now, i really...

Got a great deal for a fantastic hotel. Always wanted to stay here, and realised how much I had missed out. Room was a decent size, in fact great. We did not spend enough time in the lounge which was very popular. Breakfast was brilliant, the lady in charge put us on a shared table and the couple we met,...

On arrival the hotel seems okay, Reception looks like. Feels old but thats what you would expect. We had 3 rooms over 3 days. Room one was a tiny dark attack with two single beds. I wouldn't even let my dog sleep in a place like that. We walked in and out within seconds. Room 2 was slightly better...size wise....

Thank you for the review and we are disappointed that we did not come up to your expectations and we apologise for that. Being a heritage hotel of over 160 years vintage - most of our guests appreciate the unique character that each of our room has which had been built before the times of the modern architectural thoughts. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Lochness is only 7 miles from the hotel. ... more   less
