Very friendly reception staff on arrival. Had a second floor room overlooking the railway station. The room was very nice with a spacious ensuite although the shower was either very hot or lukewarm. Nice comfy seating area in the gallery and foyer. The food in the restaurant attached to the hotel is also very good. Separate review for that. Lovely...

It was good to see this hotel so busy. If you can get a good deal it's really worth going there. The breakfast is lovely. Our only mistake was that we didn't book for the adjoining restaurant which wasn't too busy last year. This time it was very busy and the wait was 1 hour and a quarter so we...

Arrived early on Monday afternoon, before check in time. Receptionist was very pleasant and suggested we leave or luggage in secure room, and had a coffee etc. Returned to hotel after a stroll round town centre. Room was very comfortable, clean and perfectly adequate for 2 people. Dinner and bottle of wine ( included in deal) was excellent. On return...

Stayed there with my other half, a one-year-old and my brother using Groupon voucher. I loved the fact it was right in the city centre. The interior downstairs in the lobby/restaurant/ballroom/bathrooms is top notch, although the rooms are VERY tired. Dusty, mouldy bathrooms and the window in the room was absolutely horrendous. We also got a very tiny room for...

Stayed here last weekend and had a great time, nice clean and warm room. Building is Victorian so obviously shows signs of wear and tear. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Definitely go back, love the fact it's right in the heart of the city.

It is a Victorian building with lovely ceilings windows etc The main staircase is just like from the Titanic. If you like older type buildings you will love this...

Enjoyed an excellent lunch, great service, friendly staff. Lunch arrived well presented and very quickly. We'll definitely call again on our next visit to Inverness. Situated in the centre of Inverness, makes this restaurant an excellent location

I got a very good deal for a single room and the place is only a dozen steps from the train station, so it was perfect for my arrival time. The foyer, bar and staircase area is quite grand-looking, so first impressions are great. Reception staff were a little slow/unenthusiastic about responding to me, but it was late in the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Lochness is only 7 miles from the hotel. ... more   less
