Very comfortable beds and a hearty breakfast. Definitely book the bed and breakfast package! We had a great room overlooking the river and the castle. Parking is easy and the spa amenities were nice. Only issue was that the "leisure club" staff had no idea what we were supposed to do for our spa treatments and looked really confused when we asked, since they the spa is run by a different company. Our massages and my pedicure all ended up being wonderful once we figured it out, though. Highly recommend staying here on a visit to the Highlands.
Excellent location on the river Ness, so easy to walk in to town. We had a lovely family room in the back of the hotel - beautiful decor and very clean. It was a bit hot, but a fan was provided. Beds were comfy and we had no problems with noise until about 7am when the bins got emptied! WiFi good. Communal areas were also lovely, with comfy sofas in reception. The pool/spa area was really nice and modern, also clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good, although I am not a fan of the little plastic pots of fruit as I think it tastes a bit funny (I am aware that’s the times we’re living in though). We avoided the restaurant for dinner due to previous reviews and the proximity to other restaurant offerings. The staff were really lovely and very helpful - the recommendation for the nearest park was much appreciated! Would stay here again and would recommend. Thanks!…
4 star establishment perfectly situated within a walking distance to everything that is worth seeing in Inverness. The hotel is having some repairs done to its facade with scaffolding in the front. No matter. Inside it is quite modern and nice for a 130 year old building. Must have been done up recently. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we liked it even though it faced the mountains, not the river and the city. It had a kettle, hairdryer, iron and a rather large TV. The hotel has a modest size indoor swimming pool, which we passed by every day. Tempting. What ruins the good impression is the restaurant. Breakfast is served only till 9.30 and 10 on Sat.and Sun. In a 4 star hotel? What is it, a Scout camp? When we arrived at 9am there were three couples already queuing even though half of the tables were unoccupied. True, not cleaned yet, but whose fault is that? When we arrived there was no bacon, no tomatoes, no muffins, only one sad roll left and supposedly orange juice which was more water than orange. A young waiter forgot about the tea we ordered. There were no small cups for espresso. Who runs this place? The poorest breakfast we had for years. Bacon was good though. To be fair though, on the next morning (Sat.) it was as if a different place altogether. Same time-9am, quite a few guests, yet on this occasion there was nothing to complain about. Except for the still watery juice perhaps. Strange. Then comes dinner in „eight on the river” restaurant, we had booked in advance earlier, of which the hotel sent us an e-mail reminder. Menu was available online but was totally different to what’s in a paper, which was much poorer. What’s the point of having an on line menu then? We didn’t like the starters, salmon for the main course was good but rather blunt, Pinot Grigio not cold enough, tap water undrinkable due to the smell of chlorine (had to ask for a bottle of still, not that anybody offered us choice), cheeses ordinary, espresso macchiato way too thin. Ask Italians, who visit Inverness often, how to make it properly. On top of that we had to change tables on account of a droughty window, radiator was turned on only AFTER we had arrived, the waiter never smiled or made us feel welcome with only perfunctory inquiry about food we had. The other two girls were glued to their posts in the middle. They did come gingerly enough though, when asked. And there was just one more couple apart from us that Friday evening, which speaks volumes. Surely, we weren’t too much bother? There are plenty of other establishments nearby where you can eat out. In other words, stay away from this eatery and for breakfast drag yourself from bed early, maybe you will have more luck than us. …
The hotel is situated just a two minute walk from the city centre shops. Very clean and well furnished hotel with leisure centre. Limited on site car parking however overflow spaces available 1/4 mile away. Our room was very clean and spacious. We had difficulty controlling radiator resulting in the room being uncomfortably warm.
Excellent location, service even better tnan expected, lunch and dinner value for money. I will certainly return there in my next journey and i will search to book the same brand at any journey. Highly recommended!
From the front of house staff on reception to the serving staff, cleaning staff and all those I haven’t mentioned you run a mighty fine establishment. The food in choice, presentation and taste is second to none - where’s that Michelin star ! The leisure facilities are more than adequate unless you’re in really serious training for triathlons. The general atmosphere of the place is superb. Get yourself there soon.
Part of a rail tours package ( well organised / but not herded). Hotel was most welcome after a very long train journey. Room warm, comfy and staff most helpful. Hotel is going to be having some upgrades ( scaffolding going up as we left) but I guess the lovely building should be returned to its natural stone beauty. Tea / coffee making in room, iron too. Toiletries and hairdryer and free WiFi. One thing I usually note in Resturant ( if you read my reviews) is if you get hot plates for your food. Just right here. Food varied and plentiful. So I guess if you are thinking shall we spend time here I think the answer should be yes.
Me and Family members enjoyed a 2 night stay in this beautiful Hotel in a great location. It has a great location with parking and a beautiful leisure centre. Rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated spotlessly clean. Food and service was excellent. Staff friendly and professional in their Customer Service.
Hotel is lovely but check in was a real disappointment. No information or offer to book in for an evening meal or breakfast and no information on use of the leisure facilities. Just carted off to the hotel 1 door down and forgotten about.
The Inverness Palace Hotel, exceeded my expectations. After reading some reviews, I was rather dubious as to what would be awaiting us. From arrival to departure, the staff couldn’t have been any more helpful, very comfortable room overlooking the river, comfortable clean hotel, fabulous breakfast. We ate out each evening so I cannot comment on the restaurant food. We would definitely recommend and would definitely return. My only complaint was the bed which we found uncomfortable and too hard for a good nights sleep.
