Needed to get away for a few nights, looked around found this place, was really the price that took us here, 65 a night b&b and dinner on one night. So off we went not really knowing what to expect. When driving up to the hotel we both thought you sure this is it. Alot grander than we expected for...

We visited the Newton on an Itison voucher deal, which offered B and B in an executive room for £49 per night. It was certainly very good value and the hotel itself had many positives. In short: Positives- the hotel looks grand from the outside, even on a cold, blustery day. It was well situated; a quiet location but an...

Checked in after travelling through a blizzard on the way up from Carnoustie, pleasant girl on reception to welcome us, checked in quickly, our room was nice and warm, nicely decorated, tidy bathroom, we were overlooking the rear of the hotel, so our outlook wasn't great, but it was an overnight, so wasn't important, our evening meal was nice enough,...

We had a weekend break and, frankly, were disapppointed. From the start, the receptionist prioritised the phone over our check-in, and then we were informed that the lift was out of order and we were on the second floor. Not a good initial impression. The rooms are quite comfortable but well overdue some renovation. Chaplains, which is the best restaurant,...

Thanks for your review. I am disappointed that we got things wrong during your stay. We cant help things like the lift breaking, these things do happen and our sometimes outwith our control, but we should be getting the things we can control right, and for that, we apologise.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. The first night we stayed in a double and the next two we stayed in the chaplin suite. As many of reviews state the rooms are in need of an upgrade. However, with that in mind and the fact that we got a good deal we still booked. And I`m glad we...

A nice warm and friendly hotel ideal for a break at this time of year. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure everything was as we liked. The food was very well presented all locally sourced and tasted excellent.

Recently revisited this highland hotel in the middle of Hurricane Henri so just as well the hotel and, in particular, our room was cosy and comfortable and it was no hardship to spend time there relaxing in comfort. The lounge, dining and bar areas are what you hope and expect in a fabulous old property built long ago as someone's...
