Lovely little hotel, the room was a bit average, but the bar and restaurant were very good. When I mentioned I had never had Haggis before and, while I really wanted to try it (after 35+ years of visiting Scotland!!) I didn't want to put my meal on the line. Next you know, the chef has cooked a piece and had it brought out to me to try - not just a mouthful but quite a generous piece. Delicious - why did I not try this before. The staff throughout were very helpful and friendly. When we got to the room, we noticed the noise and were advised it was from the kitchen vents and that it would be quiet by 9pm. Parking at the hotel was easy.
I have just returned from 2 great days/nights staying here. Having never stayed before I didnt know what to expect. It was a great stay. All the staff we encountered where brillant. We had over 25 for lunch both days and all commented on how great it was. We had two fabulous dinners here as well. The food is some of the best I have had and the service made it even better. The rooms where spacious and clean. Alistair and the team are great so much so we have booked to stay again next year. This is now our go to hotel when we have to stay in Elgin.
Highly recommended! We were a company of four friends staying at Sunninghill for a long weekend and we really loved this place. Friendly staff that gave us a family feeling, great food in the restaurant (it is worth a separate rating) and an excellent bar with a large variety of whiskey. Breakfast was fantastic and the rooms clean and with high quality. If you want to visit Elgin or make the whiskey trail, Sunninghill is the best place to stay at.
Our annual family get together (4th year) here to celebrate our Mam's birthday marred by a surly unhelpful unwelcoming male member of staff . A few members of our family commented on it ..The girls and waiter (he wears his mask and don't know his name ) were lovely.Food very nice but Mam ordered a half portion but only got£1.85 off the £18.95 menu price..!! I went back in today to check bill but the same unhelpful member of staff dealt with me and I queried the price of the half portion..only To be told that is their policy...a child gets 45% discount and an adult 10,%.....shocking.Mam eats less than a child. Also I mentioned that in the 4 years of coming to celebrate Mam's birthday and spending an average of £450 each visit not once did they offer Mam a free drink or put a bottle of complimentary wine on the table...again he said that's not our policy .....many members of our family who weren't with us this night who used to visit frequently will not be going back...nor will we. We will be going back to Laichmoray Hotel where we had been a couple of times as all staff there go out of their way to make us welcome. Sunninghill shame on you.…
Stayed in the annex of the hotel with my mum for one night. Have to say the accommodation was outstanding, clean, good beds and fresh feel. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was freshly prepared and served by very happy staff. Would highly recommend this hotel and accommodation and will definitely return. Mum has mobility issues and we found this not a problem within the accommodation or hotel. Hotel is within walking distance to the city centre and is easy to navigate with someone in a wheelchair.
3 night stay. EVERY staff member was friendly and made every effort they could to help or make our stay better. Upon arrival we started to head to our room and it seemed like the carpets were a bit dated/old and the stairs were showing signs of wear. I was a little concerned we'd find a tired/worn down room. Turns out the bath had been very recently updated, and the room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Appears they've been spending money in the RIGHT places! In-house restaurant for two dinners and very good food (at reasonable prices) and the small in--house bar was impressively stocked. Alistair at the bar was ESPECIALLY good as he helped make one night during our visit for myself and son exceptionally memorable. Note for travelers: they were able to send laundry out "by the bag" at a very reasonable rate. That made our travels easier.…
Our stay in this hotel was exceptional ,staff were warm and friendly from the moment we arrived until our departure. The hotel was scrupulously clean and the food was beautiful excellent choice of courses breakfast was really delicious with high quality produce . We will certainly return .
Again, a lovely meal, lovely servers , nothing too much trouble. Considering I booked a table at short notice, and they were busy…….brilliant. Will visit again ..and again. It all seems like a family dining room, with no washing up,to do. Thank you all.
It has been a couple of years since we last had a meal in the Sunninghill. I am delighted to say that the same high standards have been maintained since our last visit. Great service from all staff, a varied menu reasonably priced and our party of three thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Recommended
Stayed for 5 nights and although the hotel is a little old fashioned it’s immaculately clean, the staff were friendly, helpful, and generally just nice people. The hotel had everything in place for the COVID restrictions without being intrusive. If you don’t stay you 💯 need to go to their restaurant. The food is off the scale amazing! If only I lived nearer. A great hotel!
