A rambling building ( no lift) which has a lot of lovely features, wood pannels and lovely spiral staircase. Room was modernised and efficient but up a lot of stairs. Staff were friendly and the position is very good in the centre of town.
The hotel is very near the river and is superbly placed near the centre of the city. I attended a day long meeting and the buffet/ sandwich lunch was good as was the service. Facilites were also good as was the breakout rooms.

I think it is worth you phoning the hotel. Our double room was very nice, large and updated but we were in a mini basement with no view at all. If you are not on the riverside, you would be overlooking the shopping street. The staff were lovely - ask if you can reserve a double room. Happy 70th!
