The (in my opinion) most notable fact about the Independent Hostel is the warmth and hospitality. It's not the usual hostel with a front desk and rotating staff but feels much more like you are a guest in Linda's house. Consequently, the rooms resemble private guest rooms more than hotel rooms. The double room with a private bathroom (which the... More

The owners, Linda and Andy, were very welcoming, warm and helpful. Clean, quiet... the room and the bathroom were very nice. The common room with a fire for raining days, and many games to play. No breakfast but coffee and tea all day in a spacious kitchen.

Great hosts who made myself and everyone feel welcome. Nice 6 minute walk to Donegal town. Clean and tidy facilities. Wifi was in and out and worked best in the kitchen which is fine. Plus easy spot to hitchhike around. Had loads of fun and would recommend to others.

The hostel is located slightly outside of Donegal Town, with a cute view on the countryside. We slept in a 6 bedroom with ensuite bathroom which was great. The quality of the beds wasn't the best, but it was clean, and spacious. The owner of the hostel was very friendly and gave us great advice. In general, there is a... More

I stayed at the hostel for one night only during a road trip. Linda is an amazing person and make everybody feel very welcome. The rooms are very clean, easy access to the town. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants chill out and enjoy West Ireland

Linda and Andy. Always smiling, always ready to help you. The hearth of this hostel. What else? Lot of rooms and bathrooms very cleaned, good kitchen stuff. Very near to the town but far enough to stay quite.

Admittedly, we only stayed a night as we were passing through on our road trip, but due to the amazing stay we had we count that night as one of the best of our week in Ireland. The hostel is located in a small town with amazing seafood. It was built 100 years ago or more and overlooks a breathtaking... More

A group of four of us stayed here on a recent walking weekend to sleive league and the bluestacks. Linda and Andy made us feel at home from the very get go and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Recent work to the bedrooms and bathrooms make the place very modern and comfortable. Beds were soft and most welcoming after a... More

We stumbled upon this hostel after struggling to find somewhere in Sligo. One of the friendliest hostels I have ever stayed at. Linda is the sweetest host, she stayed up chatting with us all night. I can not say enough nice things about this lovely lady. If we had more time I would love to stay here longer and if... More
