The house is stunning outside. The grounds emaculate. Margaret and Tony are most gracious hosts. The stay was comfy, warm and welcoming and the breakfast was pure delish! Close proximity to sites. OJ the puppy steals your heart. The views of the surrounding countryside melts one into a country calm. We highly recommend anyone to stay at this lovely property.

With my friends I spent one night in this amazing B&B, less than 5 minutes to drive from Kilkenny castle and centre. We really appreciate the breakfast (they have a really huge menu) and the rooms. Margaret and his husband are really kind and helpful, she give us all the information about Kilkenny.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hillgrove bed-and-breakfast. We were offered tea on arrival and our room was neat and tidy. Margaret and Tony were very welcoming hosts, and we felt very comfortable with them. We got to play with their lovely cocker spaniel puppy, OJ. They are breakfasts were excellent, and we enjoyed every minute. They are located... More

I booked this B&B for my husband and myself last minute for our trip in May 2014 based on the rave reviews. When we arrived, Margaret seemed a bit put off. The room was directly above the dining room - so very loud early in the morning and unfortunately the house had various other “sounds” which kept us up at... More

I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B for one night at the end of May with my parents, husband, and baby. Margaret and her husband were such gracious hosts, even bringing out a high chair from their own home at breakfast and preparing a special set of eggs for our baby. We each chose a different option from... More

A lovely looking cute little bed and breakfast. Just a few km away from the center of Kilkenny. The rooms weren't huge, but more than big enough. Out host Margaret provided us with maps and information on where to go and what to see. Overall a lovely stay, absolutely delicious breakfast (and a huge menu to choose from) and very... More

We spent two nights at Hillgrove. We loved the charm of the house, and Margaret Drennan was a lovely, helpful hostess. The location of the house is great, only two miles from Kilkenny Castle. We would certainly recommend Hillgrove to anyone staying in Kilkenny.

Our short stay of two nights here at Hillgrove was our favorite B&B of our two week Ireland trip. Margaret was a great hostess, welcoming us with tea and cookies, providing good maps and directions... and the breakfasts were extraordinary. The French press coffee was perfect; never had such perfect poached eggs. We loved the room and the view of... More

Hillgrove was our first stop in Ireland and set the tone for our full journey. Set in a beautiful pastoral location a couple of kilometers outside of Kilkenny, it offered a serene respite from the delightfully frenetic activity of the town center. It is invitingly situated at the top of a small hill and the grounds are beautifully and tastefully... More

This B&B was perhaps the best that we stayed at in Ireland due to the hospitable hosts, cozy rooms, and delicious breakfasts. Margaret was so kind and helpful. When we left, she gave us tips and directions for Kilkenny. When one of our party left an electric razor, we contacted Margaret who was more than willing to help get it... More
