As someone who has been using Tripadvisor since 2012 I can't believe I didn't check this place on here first. We've not long moved from the area and needed to go back for a couple of nights. I've driven past here countless times and told myself that we didn't need anything fancy and it would be OK for what we wanted. What a shocker though! Given a credit card style key for a lock that needed a Yale type. Breakfast - no menu on the table so the waitress offered to read out a list of what the cooked breakfast consisted of. The only alternative was toast or cereal - coffee and tea you had to pour yourself. The carpets were stained and worn, although the decor in the room itself was OK. The worst thing though was that one of the twin beds was fit to be chucked out. One of the wheels missing and it seemed like part of the frame was partly broken through. Ok, so apparently the have a programme of upgrading the beds but how was that a help to me. Oh, and the staff member who checked me (so knew my room number) paid me an accidental visit about an hour after.

We stayed here last minute. The staff were absolutely amazing. Laura the managar tinu the receptionist could not have been more accommodating to us and my 2 little girls. What an amazing team Laura runs. They are friendly polite and are prepared to do whatever you need to make your stay a compfortable one. They make this place. The rooms however were outdated and need a revamp but are spotlessly clean Xxxx

The words “Fawlty Towers” crossed our lips a couple of times! No menus in the restaurant (everyone shared the one copy off the bar) no barman, no staff in the restaurant at one stage! No teabags in the room etc. Nothing major other than our room didn’t get serviced during the second day. Room was stiflingly hot as the hot water pipe that ran through the room couldn’t be turned off. The staff we did see were helpful and friendly.

Staff amazing and couldn't do enough for us. Room really clean and comfortable, fan and fridge in room. Breakfast very good and cooked freshly. We had afternoon tea there, again all fresh and would recommend. Yes, the place needs upgrading which is being done under new management. We will definitely be going back to stay again. Please do not believe all the negative reviews.

I have never left a negative review for anywhere before but i will just say we were booked in for two nights but there was so much wrong we left a day early. Filthy bathroom, mass of hairs in the bath plug hole, food crumbs on the bedroom floor, springs broken in the mattress, poor breakfast selection, very weak tea and coffee. Then afternoon tea which we took home was ok but no jam for the scones and both packets of cream were out of date. Finally to add to it all this was a prebooked and paid for break - the hotel have charged us for the stay and after complaining and apologising charged us again. Dire. It is changing ownership - i wish the new owners best wishes - this place could be really good.
