I stayed for a night whilst away on business. Check-in was at the main bar as the dedicated check-in desk for the hotel was closed at the time of my visit. Firstly, if you are planning on checking-in, make sure you don't follow the sat-nav to the High Street itself as it is partly pedestrianized and partly a one-way system....

Stopped for a quick drink. Very polite people. It was actually shocking to meet people I know unexpectedly having a good time. The service was good. I enjoyed every minute I spent in there. I would go back for a proper evening out there soon

I don't normally write reviews but feel that some of the reviews for this hotel are unfair so here's my opinion... I paid only £45 for my room. The hotel is old and quirky with real character. The bed was super comfy and clean! The staff were lovely. Are there areas that can be improved? Yes.. But if it was...

Went there with my wife for lunch. Very disappointed with my meal of fish chips and peas. The battery was not cooked through and very stodgy. Chips were hard and look3d like they were reheated. I must have been unlucky as other customers looked OK. Whilst waiting for my meal I began to notice my surroundings. This historic hotel is...

Room was reached by climbing many stairs and going along corridors. No lift in the hotel. During pub opening hours you have to go through the bar to reach your room. My wife found this intimidating since some of the pub clientele were a little rough. Room a little shabby but clean and toilet and shower adequate. Free hearty breakfast...

This hotel really needs either condemning or a massive overhaul, it is a completely vile and an unhealthy place to stay!! The room was in a disgusting state, dirt and dust everywhere, walls and skirting boards all falling apart and rotten. There was only one lampshade and a used tissue and empty tablet packet in the bedside cabinet. The bed...

It is true that you get what you pay for, but when you book based on what you see advertised, you expect a fair level of accommodation. There were buckets on the landing to collect the rainwater coming through the ceiling, the room was disgusting with cracks and holes in the walls, battered furniture and a sloping bathroom floor. Shower...

Very average, but I have stayed in worse places. Stayed here twice over the last few months. Single room was £45 for the night, but £60 when I booked through booking.com. So book direct because it's cheaper. Has its own parking if you can find it, it's tricky, you use the multi storey car park entrance then turn right at...
