So I booked this room last minute for a work trip and the reviewers went savage on this place and I thought I would chance it (and had no choice really) I was given towels on arrival and the building looks totally different to the pictures on google. It’s all refurbed and looks good in the reception area! I phoned Natasha on the desk as I was frightened and upset as I was having a bad night and she was so kind and reassuring! I had an alright nights sleep and I was lucky but it was sooo quiet. No road traffic noises. I had a hot shower with some soap and the hair dryer worked. I had a 2 large mirrors a double bed and a wardrobe. The door had a dent in it but it didn’t effect my stay at all! I had a tv with freeview too. I didn’t mind at all it was a good nights sleep and the staff were great!! One thing I will say is the sheets smelt abit strange. Perhaps some nice smelling fabric conditioner might be good? Thank you for being kind to me when I was feeling abit rubbish! Xx

This place is reminiscent of one of those cheap American budget motels you see on TV where you pay your $10 bucks and are handed one bath towel and a key to your room from the reception desk. Climbing a very steep set of stairs with our luggage my wife and I entered our room which seemed ok but noticed in the bathroom there were no hand towels or shower floor mat, no glasses for toothpaste or for rinsing your mouth and there was no remote control for the television in the room, never mind we did not expect the Savoy for the £96.00 we paid for the two nights. We enquired about breakfast and were told that only a Continental breakfast was on offer from Monday to Saturday for £6.50 which consisted of a small box of cereal, a round of toast and yoghurt, tea/coffee, but no ham or cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs or croissants, hardly continental? I enquired about the missing television remote control as I like to watch the morning news, the pleasant girl on reception told me she would speak to the manager but after the first day, there was still no remote control. The next day Saturday my wife and I were attending my nephew's wedding at 3 pm that day and it was a very chilly rain-swept day and there was no heating on in our room the radiator was cold. We attempted to have a hot shower at around 1 pm before we got ready but the water was freezing cold, just then there was a knock on our door, it was the manager who wanted to train me on how to use the television manually from hidden buttons from the back but still without a replacement remote control. I explained that we had a more serious problem with the hot water and heating and that we needed a shower before attending a wedding around 2.30 pm, he told me the boiler needed resetting and it would take around 10/20 mins and we tried again and again but no hot water the manager never had the decency to return and give me an explanation. We had to wash in very cold water and were very uncomfortable, I feel I must emphasize that all of the staff were very pleasant and as helpful as they could have been but are let down by a Cheapskate Cost-cutting Manager and Owners, Shame on you's.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible stay. I had an allergic reaction because the towel had come into contact with something it shouldn't have done. The manager informed me they had a towel shortage which DID NOT fill me with confidence as to why my towel had been contaminated. The instant the towel touched my skin I felt an irritation that gradually got worse over the day. He called me a liar, until I showed him the images of my reaction. He then suggested it was my fault because I'd explained that I had put the towel on the floor outside the shower in the bathroom and that there might have been "special detergents" that they had used on the floor. I think there's a serious health and safety issue there and the fact the manager firstly called me a liar, then secondly suggested it was my fault shows that in all likelihood he's a buffoon and clearly incompetent when dealing with these issues. I would strongly advise spending the extra tenner and stopping at Baron's court down the road because it's a really nice hotel and you won't have these cleanliness issues. I have a recording of our phone call and I'm going to seek compensation. All of this could have been avoided with an understanding manager, who A didn't accuse the individual of lying and then B didn't suggest it was their fault for putting the towel on the floor in the bathroom (even though someone with zero experience in hospitality would immediately be aware that was a clear health and safety issue)>

Your Mom's wake is a sensitive occasion to get right. Jake accommodated all of our family's wishes and delivered on his promises. The Hotel has recently been refurbished to a good standard and we could not have wished for better service, from Jake, Ray and the staff. We have no hesitation in using and recommending this venue again in the future, hopefully for happier reasons. We cannot comment on the rooms as we hired it purely as a venue.

Went here as we got married here 10 years ago and was our anniversary. The hotel has mainly been refurbished and looks nice, we requested a downstairs room and unfortunately had to walk though a bit of a messy unfinished room to get to our room. The food here was nice and the room clean, was quiet due to covid but certainly has potential when the refurbishment is completed. And covid is eased. To be honest you are not gonna get the ritz for £40 a night, for that price it was ok
