Went for a big birthday party. I tried booking online but after a month and no confirmation I tried phoning the week before the party and was told Yes, we were definitely booked in. Then I rang the day before to make sure as Id still had no email confirmation, only to be told "Sorry, fully booked". I almost paid for a non-refundable room a mile down the road just to ensure we had a bed for the night. Decided to go anyway and taxi home, cheaper. Good job I didn't, turns out we WERE in, it was just 'the compu'er said no"! On arrival I was told the lift was broken (three flights of stairs, what would have happened if I'd been in a wheelchair - it advertised lift access ?). Then the showers had no grab handles for people dodgy on their feet - lethal; then worst of all, they had hardly any drinks, no Prosecco, Peroni or brandy and only limited stocks of wine. One saving grace was "Steve" who made up for the shortcomings by being so apologetic. They cant blame everything on Covid!

Can’t think of anything positive to say about this 3 star hotel. Ridiculously tired both inside and out with the public and private areas in need of complete renovation or redevelopment. Would not recommend even at the prices offered.

Must have got 3 stars from some teacher because this place is a dive. Bottle bar that closes early. No room service to replace towels or make beds. Outside is very shabby as is the carpets inside and they charge £60 per night!!!

The reservation was made by a friend and I have to admit reading previous reviews I was somewhat aprehensive about my 3 night stay Yes the exterior isn’t the best of first impressions, but there was plenty of parking spaces for guests The reception staff ( both night and day) were really friendly and informative. However there is a lift but it’s not working and according to the staff there have been attempts to repair it with no joy!! The hotel is in the process of a refurb and the stair area going to the rooms on the 1st- 3rd floors, is grubby looking, carpets and skirting boards are badly stained and scratched. However my room on the 2nd floor was well furnished, modern and extremely clean and obviously recently refurbished. The bed was very comfortable plenty of really hot water both morning and night when required. During the redecoration they hadn’t replaced the tiles in the bathroom and a couple were cracked. But it was very clean. I didn’t eat in the restaurant as breakfast was served from 06-0800 and too early for me, seemed to be geared towards the business and construction workers requirements with regard to availability dinner is 18-20.00 hrs and again not used by myself. I was pleasantly surprised at the hotel after having read the previous reviews to my visit. Would I stay there again - yes and would be interested to see how far they’ve progressed with the renovations It’s good value for money. The staff are really helpful and courteous.
