We booked this for a weekend with meals included & so happy we did as the set menu we had on our first night was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. Rooms were a bit tired and need a little lift, however ours was quite spacious and we slept well considering our window faced into the high street. Staff were the best thing about the place as they were so friendly and helpful with regards to what to do in the area etc. Lovely area in the Cotswolds and hotel is very central. We will definitely be back!
An impressive hotel and great base for exploring Chipping Camden! The rooms are nice perhaps somewhat dated but cosy. The restaurant is a lovely setting and menu interesting and classical. The homemade bread was excellent & butter. Starters were a highlight.
Service pleasant, staff are good but food was just average and to be honest they gave us the wrong menu and instead of asking what we'd like instead they just decided for us. Not great at all. The restaurant want busy either so I'm afraid no excuses.
We chose this hotel which offered a bargain break in a part of England we like to tour. We were very impressed with the comfort, the level of service and the quality of the food. The room we booked was not available due to a heating fault, but we were offered options to switch to other (actually better) rooms. It's worth noting that the rooms are all different; some have baths, some have walk-in showers; some have exposed beams, others are more modern. It's worth checking the exact facilities when booking. Rooms in the main hotel are in need of refurbishment, we were told that was planned for this summer.
When booking our over night stay I was served so professionally by a lovely lady called Lucy who then welcomed us as we arrived. This hotel is such a gem and I am so glad that I found it. The place is calm, relaxed and so cosy. The charm of the village is felt throughout this quaint and well appointed hotel. The dining room and bar are tastefully decorated and so to are the unique and individual bedrooms. We had a leisurely afternoon tea from a lovely menu; all freshly prepared and homemade. I cannot speak highly enough of the excellent food cooked by a diligent and passionate chef and team. Our evening meal was utterly delicious and far surpassed any meal I have had for a long time. I would not hesitate to recommend booking a special occasion to dine at the Kings Hotel, the food is beautiful and the dining experience was so well considered. Lucy and Alex part of the hotel team made the evening very special for us and we will certainly wish to return to this hotel to enjoy again the quality of the evening meal and breakfast. What a treasure of a place, an asset to the town of Chipping Campden.…
I selected this hotel for a mini break to celebrate my wife’s birthday and from the first contact was impressed by the level of service provided. A mistake I made with my initial reservation was quickly resolved in a call from Lucy who went on to help me make a number of other arrangements to make my wife’s day extra special. She even provided a brief description of the rooms available to help with my selection. On arrival we were delighted to find the same professional, friendly service extended to us from everyone we dealt with throughout our stay. We stayed for three nights and loved the option of freshly-cooked breakfasts each morning; so much more enjoyable than the usual bain-marie offerings. We celebrated the birthday with a magnificent dinner in the hotel’s Jackrabbit Restaurant, which offered a varied and imaginative selection, mainly sourced from local producers all cooked and presented to perfection. In short, we both thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.…
Wonderful staff, we found Alistair’s and Lucy’s dedication to customer service above and beyond the norm. The hotel was just as we expected, Fabulous! The food was delicious. Look forward to returning in the summer.
From arrival to departure we could not fault the team at the Kings Hotel. Met by Jack the House Manager with a warm welcome and the relaxed efficiency continued throughout our stay. Nice large warm room with a great shower ! The Valentine dinner was some 6 courses and every one was just superb - compliments to the Chef . The flavours throughout were just fantastic so thank you for the huge amount of Brownie Points I have banked ! We will be returning ......
Our one night stay was a great success. The dining room and bar area were up to date. Dinner was very enjoyable and the expresso Martin was just the best I’ve tasted in a long time, made freshly in front of you with great care. Whilst our room was comfortable and clean it was not as up to date as the common arrears but for a short stay it was just fine.
We arrived in chipping Camden and immediately got the wow factor from the the village and the exterior of the kings hotel. As the hotel knew it was our anniversary they had a piped plate with complimentary fudge which was a lovely touch. Our room was very comfortable but unfortunately the extortionate prices eg :£10.50 for a glass of Pinot Grigio and the internal modernist decor not remotely appropriate for such a beautiful exterior- all the original stone walls had been replaced with cladding- we felt that we could have been anywhere! Such a shame. We didn’t eat at the hotel - found a lovely Cotswold pub with amazing foood and ambience nearby. Such a shame
