We popped in at lunchtime for a bite to eat with our family on Saturday and decided to sit outside. The garden was closed so we sat in a small area which was ok but not great. When the drinks came they were very average but we had high hopes for the food. Unfortunately apart from the fish and chips they were disappointing. Very small portions and my main salad looked like a starter! This was rectified but l didn't feel the staff were particularly friendly or attentive. Although the pub has a nice look to it l wouldn't recommend it for eating or portion size....! Also l noticed on the reviews that the only ones answered by the pub were positive ones?

We had a two night stay here while we explored the Cotswold area. Our room and amenities were great, the breakfasts and dinners we had were excellent. And all the staff were friendly and capable. Special thanks to Cameron, who seemed to be always there. Congratulations Neil on maintaining a great hospitality establishment that just oozes history

A great Cotswold pub experience with good food and service. It was a rainy day and the cozy inside with a fire was very welcome. It was a typical English pub and perfect for our lunch. The service was quick and helpful.

Great Cotswold pub. Nice atmosphere - good beer and cider. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. A busy lunchtime but the food was served promptly and although we all chose different dishes it was all tasty and hot. Yes the squid was salty (as in a previous review) but that was to be expected from the description and it was tender not chewy.

Let me start with the best thing about the Eight Bells Inn...the staff! Every single member of staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in room 7, a large room with a generous bathroom with walk in shower. A quirky roof beam in the entrance hall. The bedroom was large, clean, comfortable, king size bed with a good quality mattress. Every meal was excellent quality and generous portions, good selection of gins and wines, they also stock a good range of ales. A super place to visit with ace staff.

On my visit to the 8 bells there was much to think about . My first issue with the starter was not one of my own as my pate was distinctly average but the company i was with (table of 4 ) all ordered the squid, witch was so covered in salt that it made there water taste like sea water .. despite an horrific starter we powered on through our main , in witch it consisted of again my 3 in company having a tasteless bowl of orange water hard cod with rice and a couple if crackers .. were as my pork was averagely cooked the lack of chimichuri and the “pickled veg” tasted like lettuce with vinegar Lashed over the top .. Allthough having a nice 2 pints of beer morretti i do not think ill be returning to this venue any time soon ... no desert needed .!!!!

Had a meal with 4 friends on a Saturday evening and was so disappointed with both the starter and the main. The starter was particularly bad and I've never eaten anything so salty...and I like salt. I was hopeful that the main would make amends but it was the worst curry I've ever had and in stark contrast to the starter it, had no flavour at all. I couldn't finish it and my wife was very upset.

Came with my partner for an evening Sunday Roast. Great food, good wine selection, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. Felt like a proper traditional Cotswolds pub. Will definitely return when we are next in the area!
