My fiancé emailed the hotel a few days before we arrived to ask about upgrades or extras in our room as we recently got engaged but had no reply. Asked about this at check in & told could not do anything. Bed sheets were dirty & had not been changed in our room, a member of the house keeping team...

Came to this hotel a in Feb just for a get away. The hotel is nice, clean and tidy and the room was very nice too, perhaps a little overpriced for the room we stopped in. The staff on arrival wasn't very welcoming which isn't how you want to start your weekend but she did warm up after a while....

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. I had requested a quiet room and it wasn't as quiet as I would have liked, the room itself was lovely and clean. The bar and restaurant were very busy and a few mistakes were made but everything we had was lovely. I mentioned a few niggles when I...

Visited with family for Sunday Brunch. This was our third and last visit to this branch of Malmaison. Bar staff friendly and attentive. Our waiting staff in the Restaurant were changed 4 times and didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing. The buffet starters were lovely but the main courses for some were substandard. One of our...

The bar was particularly good with excellent atmosphere and live music. I went there with friends both local and out of town. We were served by Elena in the bar with smile and courtesy. She had excellent knowledge cocktails and choice of drinks.

I love Malmaison hotels and have stayed in many of them multiple times. The Malmaison Manchester is across the street from the station with a taxi rank outside so very convenient and central. The main road at the front is noisy so check where your room is or go for a higher floor. Before I have stayed in a corner...

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday using the 'cocktails and dreams' package. Excellent value, a lovely room upgrade to a corner suite, amazing food in the restaurant and a great atmosphere in Chez Mal on a Friday evening. The French 75 cocktail is my new favourite. Highly recommended- can't wait to go back.

Nice hotel, nice bar area to have drinks enjoyable atmosphere, however the food isn't great. Not eaten in the restaurant but always smells and looks nice. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean spacious and decorated in a Modern style. The windows do not open in some rooms and this is a a issue for me. I...

The reviews were a bit mixed but having stopped for 2 nights in early Feb there was nothing to complain about. Check-in was fast, room was upgraded, and meal in restaurant was good - we even hit the set menu after time (though we had not seen a mention of there being a cut-off on the website). Breakfast was good...

We stayed Sunday 12th February. The reception staff were very helpful, we requested an upgrade room and for a very reasonable price we were upgraded to the 'moulin rouge' suite. At first we were very impressed but on closer inspection it desperately is in need of a spruce up, deep clean and a new bed. The bath bucket was interesting...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
