Just returned from an overnight stay love the location central for everything been before and definitely will return one slight negative comment lady on reception needs to smile more looked like she really didn't want to be there which isn't ideal as first impressions go...but we all have off days! Found all other members very pleasant especially the lady in...

Lovely staff as ever; always very welcoming and happy to help. Great wine we can recommend the Spee Wah Pinot Grigio. Relaxed environment. We have been many times before and will be coming again. Great choice of food and drinks.

Having never been to Malmaison before I decided to dine here yesterday as my mother was in town. It was wonderful. Lovely decor and ambience. The food on the set menu was of the high quality and good value for money and the staff had the perfect level of attentiveness without being intrusive. It's not often I overtip but good...

Came for lunch. Midweek and presented with three food menus. Opted for al a carte. Starter was tempura prawns with tempura calamari. Both excellent and latter especially lovely. Squid is always a risk but this was great. Main of bass and French beans was a little meagre but was well made. Optional side salad was just a watery pile of...

Dear MikeFromEdinburgh Thank you very much for your review. It was lovely to read about all the aspects you loved especially the tempura of prawns and calamari. I am sorry that there were some aspects that did not live up to our usual high standards but appreciate you letting us know. I have passed these comments onto both the head...

So close to the station, but takes you a million miles away from the city centre once inside. Nice bathrooms, comfy beds, lots of seating for working at the bar and the on site Starbucks. Fantastic cocktails and food. The spa is also ace, they have massage chairs, sauna, and a solarium, and there's dressing gowns in the changing rooms.

Even offered advice on how to travel to the football as we came from Glasgow and didnt know our way about. Hotel is only 10 mins walk from...

I love this hotel opposite Piccadilly train station. The rooms are well maintained with a delightful red and black design. The bar is very popular and offers a great choice of wine and cocktails. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't match up to the rest of the hotel. Disappointing gluten free options and not well cooked or presented

Stayed for one night while meeting friends in Manchester as I've stayed at other branches and found Malmaison reliably good. Room was a good size, well decorated and with a very comfortable bed. Most importantly, my room was quiet and I got a great night's sleep, despite being in a good, central location just next to Canal street. Highly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
