I can't find any fault with this hotel. The on-site restaurant has a delicious menu and wines that are well priced. Our room was very comfortable with superb air-con & also a fully stocked mini bar & snacks. Positioned well for the train station and for a stroll into the centre.

I stayed here with 2 friends for a night in the city and we really enjoyed our stay, spacious clean room and a great breakfast included. Daisy on reception was especially helpful in recommending places to visit and storing our luggage for us so we didn't have to drag it around all day.

I've stayed in Malmaison in Glasgow and Edinburgh and was looking forward to a slick, stylish and sophisticated stay. In reality the room was smaller than any Premier Inn that I've been in and rather triangular in shape, albeit nicely furnished and with a superb shower and nice shampoo etc. Oddly, no complementary water in the room. The bar and...

First time in Mal @ Manchester and a big shout to Lucy on reception who when she found out we had booked for a birthday organised some free drinks. Nice one Lou. Room on the top floor was spacious staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant really good Would recommend as a base for theatre and night life

Not a great weekend experience which was supposed to be very special as I was meeting my husband after he worked 6 weeks overseas. Our room 201 was pokey, depressing, dark and facing a wall! Maybe we got the last room but it was definitely not representative of what we expected from The Malmaison. The ceiling spotlight didnt work and...

Wasn't too sure about this hotel and chose it only based on location. It turned out to be a big surprise. It was a weekend trip with friends and they all loved it too. The only thing we didn't like was the bar which was too busy.

Initial impressions were good for this hotel - entrance looked very nice, and very busy on a Saturday evening with many people visiting the bar and restaurant. I was in Manchester on a work trip, and having started my day at 5am that morning, felt like I could've slept anywhere by the time I got to the room at 11pm....

Stayed here for three nights with work, great size room and the decor is so trendy, really comfy bed, bar and restaurant staff are great and friendly but top marks to the reception staff who set a great start to the stay, have stayed here before and will definitely be back.

Typical of a Malmaison hotel. Good décor, excellent bar, good service and first class breakfast (best pot of tea I have had in years). I stayed here with work colleagues and we were our for most of the evening but the booking in, room standard and experiences in the bar and brasserie (breakfast) were all first class.

This hotel is very close to Manchester Piccadilly railway station. And from it one can walk very quickly to the main shopping areas and sights of Manchester city centre. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. The interior is modern and clean. There is free WiFi throughout, which is useful because of the poor reception of certain networks there. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
