I was in a mixed dorm, and while it wasn't perfect it was exactly what I needed and expected - a bed, a roof, friendly staff and decent security (room keys and id). Sometimes you don't need plush beds and fancy wallpaper if you're on a budget and need some sleep. Plus, this had the advantages of free wifi, free...

Have stayed at hatters at least 8 times over for the Manchester United games so looking something cheap and just to get a few hours sleep. Never cooked in the hostel as I just use for a few hours sleep and shower in the morning before going back home. Not the cleanest of hostels but ok for want I need...

Booked with a group of 11 for the weekend. had two rooms next door to each other, rooms are very dated and dirty, damp on the walls, windows and blinds all broken, god knows what type of staines over the floors and walls. The toilet was the other side of the floor and was very dirty, was in need of...

This place was so expensive what we we got! we paid almost 40 pounds per night to stay in an average 4 person dorm. The place was old and looked run down, I could feel the springs in my mattress and the toilets were so disgusting. The showers don't offer much for privacy and the general toilets are very unkept....

If you planning on purely going out drinking staying out until the early hours of the morning this place is fine. Great location. Hostel itself isn't well maintained, old building gets damp and smelly.

This is my hostel of choice. The staff are friendly, the people are good to talk to and it's in an ideal location of Manchester. The reason I voted a three is because it isn't a very clean place and the bedding needs an update. It's also not very quiet until about 2am and unless you have earplugs you may...

I stayed in Hatter’s Manchester hostel just under a month ago. Generally speaking it’s ok. It’s reasonably priced and in a good location. It’s clean, with free breakfast and access to a kitchen (with free tea and coffee!) and there’s also a cool bar attached, which has lots of buzz, especially at the weekend. The hostel is in an old...

I stayed in a female dorm with a friend and the beds were comfortable, the showers were large and hot, the toilets should be checked more often as several times they were unusable because others had clogged them with paper! But all the amenities were really good considering the cost. The breakfast was simple but enough to start the morning,...

We stayed in a nice double room right under the roof with a stunning view over the city. The building is really old and has lots of character (also the bathrooms!) The staff was nice and helpful, breakfast simple but nice because included. Unfortunately it was´t really clean... The neighborhood in the northern quarter is cool and nice to explore.

Me and 3 friends stayed for one night last weekend and we were very disappointed. This hostel is not that cheap at £20pppn and therefore we expected it to at least be clean and have working toilets. One of my friends had 3 pieces of dusty chewing gum stuck to her bed! The rooms were filthy! The staff at reception...
