I really enjoyed this place, the decor is amazing, very gentleman's club. It's a very relaxing atmosphere with lively sofas you can sink into. The food was great, we had the gentleman's afternoon tea. Mini food and yumminess is how I'd described it and you get a huge pot of tea which is always a mega bonus to me! The...

The fact that this used to be a school is one thing that stands out. Sympathetically restored with evidence of some of the original detail still in place. We stayed in room 36. It was immaculate! Original floorboards, open bathroom on the upper level above the bed. Oh the bed!!!! Soooo comfortable and large enough to get lost in! I...

The afternoon tea itself was great , we had a gentleman's tea (all great but the burger was overdone for my taste) and a lady's tea which were both lovely (we did a little swap and sharing). My only complaint was that we paid £9 for what was essentially fruit juice and that we never got a cup of tea...

My husband and I have stayed here twice now and we love this hotel x There is no other hotel quite like it, it is individual, unique and just sheer and utter luxury. We stayed in a Boudoir Grand Room on both visits, when we arrived in the room we were met with lovely classical music playing, welcome biscuits on...

Booked for a midweek stay, the hotel is a very impressive building and decorated with such style and originality. I loved the quirky features. The room was gorgeous and had the huge roll top bath. As we entered our room classic fm was playing on the sound system which made the entrance really special. The cookies made the final touch....

From start to finish we were met with first class service. Jason on reception couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He made sure we knew where we were going around the city and that everything was taken care of. Paul the butler was very friendly also and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were gorgeous and location amazing. We...

Superb location, superb service and food! All round an excellent experience, really lovely hotel fitted out really well, decorated well with excellent bathrooms and fantastic quiet air-con! The room I stayed in was split level and was huge, and the bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept on! Service here is excellent and the food very good....

Maybe this was where they invented the "boutique hotel" experience... but if they didn't then this hotel mastered it. From the fresh biscuits in your room on arrival, to the galleried bathroom overlooking the sleeping area, to the comfortable beds, it's all perfectly done. The communal bars and areas are chic and comfortable and the staff are typically Manchester friendly.

On Saturday 11 July 2015 my daughter Sally married her fiancé Daniel at Mellor Church, Stockport and they held the reception at Great John Street Hotel. From the wedding breakfast to the late night dancing the arrangements were just perfect. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and courteous. We had the top floor to ourselves and the...
