We had a lovely stay here. Within a medieval set of buildings, La Bonbonniere provided an extremely comfortable and cozy stay for 2 nights. Breakfast was a delight - freshly baked croissants and bread with an assortment of home-made jams from the friendly and welcoming owner Simone. And the tea is the best I've had in France too. If you...

Our experience at La Bonbonnière was nothing short of magical. The magic was part hostess Simone and part setting. Simone is the quintessential French woman: warm, expressive, welcoming and mirthful. We were blessed to be two of the guests at her sweet home — the name of which refers to “warm, cozy home,” not "candy factory" as I first guessed...

Thank you Simone for making us so welcome in your beautiful B&B. We really enjoyed our very short stay with you and our chat with you over breakfast. La Bonbonniere is situated in the heart of Mediaeval Bergerac. It has oodles of character, beams, colombage walls (wood and brick) creaky floors - you name it this tiny 3 roomed B&B...

What a place! The check in was fast- keys handed over with no questions asked- brilliant. Our room (there are only 3) was perfect- facing the square with a tiny window. The interior is stunning, exposed beams and brick work. Massive comfortable bed. Although the toilet and shower is outside the room, it is not shared with the other two...

Lovely house and charming host. Highly recommend La Bonbonniere to anyone. We were only in Bergerac for 1 night but would have loved to have stayed longer in such a hospitable and delightful B&B. Great location for the town restaurants and the river.

It is special in several ways: It's location in the historic centre of Bergerac, the age of the house, and the hospitality of the owners. The creaking stairs and floors are just a charming part of it all. The breakfast with croissants and jam made by the owners was both good and sufficient to fill us up. The mattress in...

It is a pity that you did not express this problem directly to me because it would have saved time.It was enough to change a wooden slat of the bed frame No one had told us this trouble before! The mattress is good.

I stayed a few days at this lovely chambre d'hotes while working on a story about Bergerac. it was all I could ask for, French warm hospitality, Simone the hostess was very informative. The days always started good spirited and lively at the breakfast table with the other guests (while feasting on croissants with homemade jams). I would definitely recommend...

Booked late the previous night and so glad we did. 14th century chambre d'hote in close proximity to the beautiful quay and river and the glorious old town attractions. Simone, the owner was lovely and helped my wife converse in French, and shared a glass of her home made wine with us before we went out. Simone recommended many good...

My wife and I were visiting friends in Bergerac and needed accommodations under short notice and during the off-season. M. et Mme. Clo had no trouble making our two night stay very comfortable. From the outside the old building matches the charm of the old part of the city, but everything is up to date on the inside. Breakfast time...

This is just the cutest little B&B in the medieval square of Bergerac, just one step back from the river and amid all the shops, restaurants, churches and museums of the old town. A perfect spot for those wanting good, simple accommodation in a home-like environment with a friendly welcome.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An authentic medieval house with a rich past, La Bonbonnière was the dwelling place of the Dordogne river boatmen, and also that of Bergerac’s last washerwoman. La Bonbonnière is situated on Mirpe Place, a public square with a statue of Cyrano. Although it is in the heart of Bergerac’s old town, this is a very calm place, two steps from the centre of town, from the Dordogne river and its gabares (traditional flat-bottom boats), from museums and shops. ... more   less
