2023 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best

Just a stone's throw from Carnac's large beach and the south-facing view it offers over the islands of Houat and Belle-Ile, stands Le Celtique, a must-see establishment in the seaside resort since its creation in the 1920s, when the first holiday resorts were built....

This Hotel & Spa of 53 Rooms & Suites has been completely renovated to give back to its building the soul of the 1930s.

The new modern and well-kept decor reveals its legendary place on Carnac beach. Here, Rooms & Suites blend together in an Art Deco setting with all the charm and refinement of the seaside spirit.

In the heart of one of the most beautiful regions of Brittany renowned for its megaliths, Le Celtique Hotel & Spa will seduce travellers looking for exclusive and authentic stays.

In addition to its Art Deco-style rooms and spaces, discover its brand new indoor swimming pool, its 600m2 Spa area dedicated to well-being and relaxation, its bar "Le Boudicca" with a relaxed atmosphere, not to mention its new chic and relaxed restaurant "Le Cairn".

From architecture to decoration, through gastronomy, wellness and tailor-made experiences, each space is a journey of the senses, evocative of emotions...

We like old hotels with plenty of character that haven't gone to seed. The recent restorations of this 1930s vintage family owned and run hotel were tastefully done. The location, private parking, serious restaurant, quality breakfasts are all in the plus column. A nice balcony for our room was an additional bonus. The welcome and atmosphere are all to the good As to our room, more like a stateroom. The water closet is not for the claustrophobic. It is nice to have a rainwater shower, but it is really squeezed into the space. The sink, with two side mirrors and twilight lighting are annoying; shaving or putting on makeup are a guessing game. Comfortable bed, good room lighting a narrow closet affording minimal storage space. I suppose most people going to the beach don't bring a lot of clothes. But we are on a 6 week trip, Half of our luggage barely fit. Black and white photos throughout the hotel reflect affection for the town and the hotel's part in its history. We are glad we selected the hotel and would stay here again, especially with a larger room or suite. The location is excellent and fairly easy to reach, once the parking area seciurity gate is opened.

We went here for Valentine's Day as a couple, with the room+valentines dinner package, which included a chilled bottle of Champagne waiting for us in the room upon arrival. It was a wonderful exprecience, and the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is beautifully and tastefully renovated and is situated just a block from the beach. We had big room with a balcony. The furniture and decoration in the room was stylish and a mix of classic and modern, art deco and beach feel. The bar has a huge lounge area with many sitting groups with comfortable chair and couches. Service was top notch as you'd except from a true 4-star hotel in France. We used the beautiful indoor pool, which was very nice. There is also a spa, but we didn't have time to try it.

We chose this hotel as it had a spa, and it was a present for my husband for his birthday. Less than a week before we were due to go, we get a telephone call to say the Spa IS CLOSED!!! No offer of a discount. NOTHING!!! So, we would have been expected to pay the same price without there being a Spa!!! OK if the Spa has been closed due to some fault or theirs, I accept that (I wasn't told the reason for the Spa not being open) but to not offer a discount is not the way to run a hotel. It was bad enough when I booked way back in July that we found out the restaurant was not open on Mondays. Fine we can cope with that and book a restaurant elsewhere. Anyone booking this Spa Hotel in December please check if the Spa is actually open before you book. Don't find out last minute that it isn't.

The hotel is well maintained, and the bed is very comfortable. Shower worked well (albeit that you can hear some noise from adjacent rooms), Our room had a bookshelf which was positioned so that you could easily bump your head (which I did twice). The location is very close to the beach of Carnac, which has a wonderful setting, with a long promenade. Very friendly staff. Breakfast is extensive - but all the hot drinks come from flasks, which seemed a bit odd. No poached eggs available. The sting in the tail was a charge of 15 Euro per day for the car park. This charge was not explained to us when we requested a space - and it was a poor way to finish the holiday. Probably would not return.

We stayed for just one night but wish that it had been more. It’s very hit and miss booking accessible accommodation but this was perfect. Beautiful room overlooking the lake, spacious room and useable wet room. Great air conditioning that was very much needed during our August stay. Friendly staff though not all speak English with understanding.

The hotel has been renewed and offers great value for money: great restaurant, rooms, service, bar, lobby, etc. We travelled with a baby, and they even provided extra material like diaper bin & other.

We stayed for 6 nights in one of the suites. The welcome at the hotel after a long drive was very professional and friendly, it was really nice to be shown around the facilities at the hotel. Our suite was really large and was kept very clean, air conditioning worked really well especially as we were here in very hot weather. The hotel although not directly having a view onto the beach, being one road behind the beach, is very close to all the amenities of Carnac Plage, but still very quiet especially at night, even on Bastille Day which took place while we were there. Fireworks display was really good, well done to Carnac for organising a brilliant event. Breakfast at the hotel was really good, nice choice and even when busy was kept well stocked. We did have a couple of drinks at the bar when returning after being out for the evening, one night there wasn't any bar staff and the reception team took over, the lady who served us was so friendly and possibly not something she did regularly, but took on the task with a smile on her face. Only a very minor point, we had a small balcony with our suite which was big enough to sit out on, but there weren't any chairs provided. We used the pool most days, which we enjoyed, we didn't use the spa or eat at the hotel as there were so many restaurants within easy walking distance. We would like to say thank you to everyone for making us feel welcome, hopefully our rusty attempt at trying to talk some french was appreciated. We will definitely return one day.

We really appreciated the welcome, the cleanliness and the quality of the room, the local products at the breakfast buffet, the excellent value of the restaurant and above all the fact that our requests were always answered in a way that satisfied us.

We only spent one night at this beautiful hotel in Carnac. The hotel is just what we were hoping. The welcome was very professional and helpful, we were walked to our room, shown around. The room was super clean and the bedding/ towels/ products were top of the line. We had a wonderful balcony and were able to enjoy some fresh air. Bathroom was spotless and comfortable. The room was so quiet, we heard nobody around us. It is well located not far from the beach, there is a gorgeous pool and a wonderful restaurant. Breakfast is top notch.
