This is a very well run small hotel with high standards set in the beautiful village of Pont Aven. Its set in a very romantic scene with the river and the mountains to the front where there is plenty of seating for breakfast, coffee, lunch etc from early morning to the evening. There is a formal dining room for breakfast where you are served an excellent set buffett and have the choice of boiled, fried eggs and ommlete.
Well positioned adjacent to river. Room in cottage small but adequate and very clean. Coffee making facilities would have been welcome. Pleasant sitting out on terrace having drink in evening. Breakfast looked good but we felt was overpriced. All in all a pleasant stay in a lovely location.
La chaumière has a great restaurant with simple dishes that you’ll cook at home. All Pont-Aven restaurant are either crêperies or restaurant that are trying to get a Michelin star - complicated dishes with lots of color and artistic effects... we were trying desperately to find a simple restaurant and found it. They have plat du jour that changes often and some classics like the seafood. We had chicken with cream and sauce, come with rice. Great and nice service. We didn’t wait. Price was correct. Back to basics simple food is the best ! Only took a pic of my café gourmand... as I really enjoyed my meal. Good work ! You diserve more customers !
We walked around this wonderful town and settled for this lovely place with seating on the edge of the river. We just wanted a drink and a cake and it was a good opportunity to try the Breton pastry which was delicious. It was served by a very friendly lady.
This place became my home very quickly. I originally booked for just 2 nights and then kept adding more nights because I didn’t want to leave. Ended up staying almost 2 weeks! The room and hotel overall is super clean, comfortable and cozy. It has a restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and lunch (the chef is super talented and she is so nice!) and delicious homemade desserts all day with a full bar serving great selections for liquor, beer, wine, coffee and tea (the green Provence tea was awesome). The girls who serve here are incredibly happy and friendly. It was genuinely nice to see them every day. The owners are very professional and give you complete privacy while also checking to be sure you always have what you need. I slept with the windows open to listen to the sound of the river and birds and ducks. The center of town with tons of delicious food options is super close (definitely go to Maison Georges Larnicol for chocolate, their dark chocolate selection is so good and the owner is super kind). There is also an awesome hiking/walking/running trail 5 mins away (past Mimosas, also excellent) that will lead you down to Kerdruc and all the way to the ocean at Port Manech if you want a good workout. It’s a beautiful trail in the woods along the river. I could write a lot more. It was a perfect place to stay. Pont-Aven is a beautiful and special little village. The river, the people, the food, the art and music - it is the perfect place to find peace, comfort, creativity and inspiration.…
