What a wonderful 3 night stay in the heart of Burgundy! Annemarie and John are the most hospitable and knowledgeable hosts we encountered during our month-long travels thourgh France. We enjoyed everything about our stay with them -- spacious room with comfy bed, serene surroundings, cozy communal living room, fantastic and filling breakfasts, and our gourmet dinner with our hosts...

Fantastic stay in one of the gites. Perfect for our 14 month old daughter and very relaxing for mum and dad. This excellent rural location is made extra special by the meal service provided by Annemarie. The weather was good enough to eat outside for two nights and this was a unique experience. The food is outstanding and delivered with...

We stopped off at La Chouette qui Chante on our trip back from Fayence up to Calais. Looking at the map we thought somewhere in the Dijon area would be about right so we could take a more relaxing journey back home. Driving through the winding lanes you get to the main house of the B&B which is somehow both...

We stayed here last month with our 11 month old daughter. First the practicals! The gite is very well appointed with a spacious bedroom, living area and kitchenette and wetroom. It was all very clean and had every item (crockery, cutlery, wine opener!, etc) that we required for our stay including some surprises like tupperware, very handy. We were provided...

My wife and I and our two kids (7,10yrs) lived in France for one year and we loved our two stays at this country bed and breakfast. Try the barn with its lofty ceilings, kitchen, warm water, warm floors... this is very special for the French countryside. You can walk to town, past horses, sheep, and farm houses. Tres Bien!...

What a find! An absolutely stunning, well equipped (baby equipment, toys, pots, pans etc. cooking utensils, toys, etc.) property in a beautiful setting close to Saulieu. Wonderful, friendly welcome and a meal service with very reasonable rates. Roomy enough to fit four adults and a baby.

This wasn't the first time that we'd stayed at La Chouette and the changes that have been made are breathtaking. From a graceful but once rather tired shell has emerged a light and airy house which is a joy to stay in. Returned to its former glories as a fine family home la Chouette achieves that elusive balance between understated...

Lovely house with beautiful gardens in tranquil settings. The en suite room was large and airy and was very comfortable. The owners warmly extended their knowledge and hospitality . Home gown and homemade produce was delicious. It is an ideal place to explore Burgandy and enjoy a realaxing break.

It is hard to find adequate words, but I will try: warm and unassuming hospitality on the part of John and Annemarie (from Great Britain), picture-perfect surroundings in a French country house with British touches, including a wonderful lawn and gardens. On our first night there they hosted a beautiful dinner for us as if we were family -- it...

AnneMarie and John are wonderful hosts (gracious and unobtrusive). The house is situated in a small village in the middle of the Burgundy region of France. A bit challenging to locate, but well worth the effort. Spacious modern room in a lovingly appointed house, delightful breakfasts (and optional dinners) that show off the local specialities. John & AnneMarie speak English...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An 1872 merchant’s house in the heart of a Burgundy village, a wonderful garden (with boules pitch), with views of the old church, the neighboring hills and the Serein valley; close to many tourist sites: Fontenay Abbey, Vezelay, Chablis, Beaune, Dijon and the nearby Morvan Park. Vineyards are a plenty in this area and so is the beautiful canal for cycle rides and picnics. The house is also well situated for people travelling to and from the South of France to Calais, it is halfway between the two and only 10 minutes from the A6 motorway junction. There are swings and large gardens for the kids and 2013 will also offer guests the chance to cool off in the pool in the summer months or use as a spa in the winter months. ... more   less
