We have always stayed at the Auberge over the past 20 years. We love to return to Nohant and especially to the Auberge. The restaurant is wonderful the staff is gracious. It is so lovely to walk in the gardens of the Maison George Sand in the morning.

On a recent trip to France we chose to visit the restaurant of this hotel; well worth it. The food was very good, texture, flavour and selection was very French and well presented. The service is good and I am only sorry my French was not good enough to understand how the beef was served - it was lovely and...

This little hotel is located in the grounds of the old home of French writer Georges Sand, and is thus the perfect place for any Sand enthusiasts! It also means the buildings are old, and have been tastefully decorated to fit its place as a rural, old-fashioned hotel. The rooms are comfortable, with antique furniture, writing desks, and modern bathrooms....

This small 8-room hotel is one of several buildings that is part of a compound dating back hundreds of years, including a small centuries-old Catholic Church. Its web site (http://www.aubergepetitefadette.com/) does not do it justice and could include more information about it as well as better photos. The complex is part of the area that was home, and burial, to...

I find it hard to believe that the previous reviewer and I stayed in the same place around the same time. While I would agree that the setting is delightful and very quiet, there is little else to recommend it. Our room was fine, a good size, comfortable, if narrow beds and a small but adequate bathroom (with "cardboard" towels),...

Stayed here unexpectedly when my previously booked hotel called me to say they had no room for me because they had over booked. Glad they did, because this place is a true find. Lovely setting in a country village where George Sand wrote and set many of her novels. Terrific dining room, spacious and clean hotel rooms (ours had a...

I must say that I don't understand the negative reviews of this thoroughly delightful place. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the dinners were top notch, and the service was cheerful, very attentive and very helpful. True, they didn't speak much English and we didn't speak much French, but that was hardly a problem; we had very little...

The Auberge is located in the lovely grounds of the former home of Georges Sands, which adds quite a novelty factor. We were welcomed and shown to a very nice room, recently decorated and very comfortable but for the pillows, ask for lots of extra pillows. Dinner was served in a delightful dining room but on this occasion it was...
