In a sea of snobby, sneering French people who pretend not to speak English for a jet-lagged, stressed tourist, the owner of Hotel Colbert is a warm and welcome host by contrast. My room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator so he brought it up for me. The rooms are basic; don't expect any frills, e.g. washcloth or iron, and the single person room has a shared bathroom in the hallway (or on the floor below). Each room does, however, have a sink and shower. The price is cheap (some multi-person hostels cost more, and this is a private room) so I did not mind this. Despite the size, the rooms are very, very clean - they clean them every day! The only real downside is that if your room faces the street, you will hear noise from the restaurants below, so bring earplugs! That

What a cracking hotel! Lovely room, great owners and a fantastic continental breakfast. I stopped here with my girlfriend during a motorcycle tour of the Loire Valley. We stayed in 4 different hotels and this one was the best! Great communication with the host, they helped me with late arrival and parking for a motorbike. Location seemed to be good (although we didn't get the chance to explore), next to a quiet square, surrounded by lots of quiet bars and restaurants. The room was spacious, clean, nicely and freshly decorated, shower was great, bed comfortable. Superb breakfast in their sunny courtyard with fresh baguette and croissants, friendly hosts (and two dogs). A really great stay at a reasonable price and I have no hesitation in recommending this place to others!

I and my wife have been here during our Summer 2018 Normandy’s tour. The rate was fair considering the quality of the service. The location is really good in the real center of the town. When we get closer we have to drive through an almost pedestrian area (cars allowed at 20 maximum speed) The private parking is not available but this hotel has a agreement with a big parking lot nearby, thus no really problem for the car The room was really great: I loved it! Nice, big, clean and with a strong worthy. One single problem: noise during the night. With closed windows no any problem (they can well isolate the room). But we have been here during August and the room was quite hot. During the night was needed to open the window (no air condition) unfortunately in this hotel is a very

This is a truly minimalist experience. No elevator, but owner helped carry up luggage. In fact, he helped us bring luggage from car, as you literally had to park in lane of traffic, luckily not much of that. He also directed us to free parking, which he couldn't believe was actually available. Room plain as can be, old, minimal, almost like monk's quarters. Nonetheless, it was a decent size, everything worked and it was very inexpensive. So I can't complain. While adequate for our needs, might consider a slightly more upscale hotel next time, if price isn't too high.

We stayed for one night, and were pleasantly welcomed by the owners who run the hotel. The room is spacious and quite peaceful. Ours was overlooking the garden, so totally quiet. From the rooms on the other side you can hear the people on the street a bit, so perhaps bear that in mind when you make your reservation. The hotel has been recently renovated and is decorated with taste. Breakfast is served by the owners, who are very friendly and really at your service. I would say this hotel deserves another star, actually.

Great "hotelito" in the middle of the happening pedestrian street in Nantes. My only disappointment was the lack of air conditioning in a fairly hot day in Tours. Also when we first arrived there was New Orleans jazz being played full blast from small square next door. AH!!!! Full brass ensemble!!! so no ac, windows open and 20 horns and singing blasting me away. Asked husband to go buy ear plugs. But I should have trusted the French by 10 pm all noise was gone, had a fan, and slept like a baby. Loved the location. Please be aware this is a 2 star hotel so is very plain. But you have all you need plus location, location, location.

We stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very comfortable and with a room overlooking the back - quiet. The Hotel is very well located for seeing Tours itself, as a base for seeing the area (we parked our hire car in the Place next to the hotel) and easy access to the train station when moving on. The couple who owned the hotel were very friendly and helpful who served breakfast each morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel . It’s great value for money.

We had a very relaxing stay at Hotel Colbert, in a garden-view room that was extremely peaceful considering the central location. The hotel's proprietors are very welcoming, with excellent English, and breakfast was just what we needed, served in the garden when the weather allowed. The busy and picturesque Old Town streets, with lots of bars and restaurants, are close by, and the railway station was about 15 minutes' walk.

We spent 4 nights in Tours and found the Hotel Colbert to be very clean, with friendly staff and a terrific location. We chose a garden room on the back so it was very quiet. You are close to the train station, shopping street, Place Plumereau, and the Cathedral, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Everybody was eager to help with providing information too. A great affordable choice in Tours!

The location is ideal for exploring the old town, or Cathedral (very close and amazing 13th century stained glass), and just a couple of minutes walk from the Loire- very pleasant to walk alongside (or jog). Many restaurants and bars on Rue Colbert, of all types. Taxi from airport was about 20 Euros, on the way back we used the tram (€1.60) with a 10 minute walk at each end. We had a rear third floor (no lift), but were asked on arrival if this was ok. It was quiet, since the street is mainly just for pedestrians. Almost no cars. :-) There was no air conditioning, but temperature was ok on a warm May day. Room facilities were simple, but not unexpected for this class of hotel, and all was clean. Liked the city and the hotel. Would stay again.
