We read discovered this hotel after 45 years, stopped here in 1972 on the way to Soviet Union as students and spent two weeks. We have been to Paris multiple times since but forgot the location of the hotel. Still a wonderful picturesque hotel with winding narrow stairs but very French. And it was an exciting place when we were...

Dear Customer, Plaese do not wait 45 years to come back because, unfortunately with my 72 years old, I probably would not be there anymore. In any case I appreciate your comment that does not confuse, as others do, the Ritz and our house, but judges perfectly what it proposes considering that we remain modest. I was happy to greet...

The good thing about this hotel ..... the receptionists speak good English. They are polite and very helpful. This hotel is very near to the train station and to the restaurants and grocery store. What I did not like is the narrow alley going to our room. It is a dangerously structured hotel. In case of fire, you will not...

Dear Guest, We were sensitive to your remarks on the security. To be in a building with moderate spaces does not mean lacking safety. Former numerous buidings in Paris are built with standards which do not correspond any more to the uses of today. Know that buidings in the "Marais" quarter, for example, have even more modest living space. This...

Incredible staff, exceptional location, peaceful and well-kept I stayed here with a group of 14 high school students and could not have found a better hotel. Situated in the Latin Quarter, this location provided easy access to the metro, restaurants, and major tourist attractions, without the hustle and bustle of the city. My students felt safe, had easy access to...

We booked the hotel due to its proximity to Montparnasse, which is a good location as a base for exploring Paris. The hotel is a traditional Parisian building converted to a hotel, so as a result things are a little cosy - rooms are big enough for a bed and basic furniture but the bathrooms are pretty small. I'm average...

We discovered the Hotel Des Bains on a family trip to Paris years ago. It's a great place to stay in Montparnasse with spacious accommodations for small and large parties. The optional breakfast is very good and generous if you're not in the mood to hunt for something in the neighborhood - (there are many options). It's convenient to a...

This being my second stay in the hotel, I knew what to expect. Beautiful rooms, clean and quaint. The elevator is almost non existent so don't bring huge bags, and the stairs is small, but it's a wonderful charming hotel in a wonderful location, within walking distance of all the major attractions and of the main train station!

On our previous visits to Paris, we had stayed near the Tuileries Gardens. This time we wanted to try something new. Our son recommended the Hotel des Bains in Montparnasse. It was a perfect choice. Strategically located on a side street - it sat between a Metro station and major intersection - it was easy to get around (Uber, or...

We liked Montparnasse because of it's central location. There is much in the immediate vicinity, there are several nearby metro stops, and many good restaurants. So the location is a plus. We were able to quickly walk here from Gare Montparnasse. We had a suite - two adjoining bedrooms with a large bathroom. The bathroom looked recently updated. The shower was...

I've stayed at Des Bains Montparnasse over the last ten years; most recently in September 2015. Yes, rooms are small but it's cozy and comfortable and very clean. SUPER CONVENIENT: It's convenient coming from CDG because RER B goes directly to denfert rochereau where one can change to Metro 6 for a few stops to Edgar-Quinet. Staff has always been...

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
