This trip was for my wife's 40 birthday to which I had planned to a tee as I wanted to get it right. I travel for work on a regular basis and usually in budget hotels which are well appointed but simple as I never intend to spend too much time in them as its the surroundings that I'm working...

It's an old part of the adjoining church fashioned into a hotel. Features lots of details that would be part of a rectory of a church. The bed was two twins pushed together. There are stairs to enter and a spiral staircase to the rooms. The bathroom is modern, but the shower door was problematic. The location is good for...

We went to Paris for a long weekend and stayed at this hotel. Everything was clean and tidy and staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was absolutely amazing and we loved the decoration! The only little inconvenient is that they don't have a lift, but the place is so charming that you wouldn't mind! Also very close to...

If noise is a factor, request a rear room. You may get it or you may not. It's part of the ambience of the St. Merri. The rear rooms were considerably quieter than the front. We tried both and they were very different. The front room was larger and louder, the rear room was smaller and quieter. We enjoyed both.

One star because zero stars is not an option. Where do I start? My job involves travel, I stay in hotels globally every month and have never, ever been treated in this way. As part of my job I stay in 4/5* hotels. On our honeymoon, I was looking for something really quirky and different so as not to feel...

My partner and I stayed three nights at this hotel during October 2016. The hotel itself is charming, from the classic furniture/décor, and warmth/friendliness of the front desk staff. The hotel rooms are indeed quite small and there is no elevator, but this should not come as a surprise since this is clearly indicated on the website. I personally didn't...

The hotel borders my favourite church in Paris, St. Merry. So every hour and halfhour you can hear the bells ring. The rooms have this clerical touch and lots of wooden details. My room on the third floor was spacious, bed crisp and fresh, view from the window straight towards the tower of St. Jaques - and of course: St....

We wanted something central and it doesn't get much more central than Hotel St Merry, smack dab in the middle of the bustling Marais area. Yes, it gets a little noisy late at night because of the bars and restaurants but it's the price of being in the centre, I guess. Staff were friendly, our room was clean and quirky....

Hotel St Merry was just like the photos. The room was small and you get your exercise using the stairs to and fro, but that's part of its charm. My boyfriend and I both tried to keep in touch with work while we were traveling and we found that the wifi signal had a tough time making it through the...

We selected the St Merry because it was recommended in two guide books and the location was convenient. Our room on the top floor was quite shabby, the purple velvet wallpaper was stained and peeling and the room had not been dusted in awhile. The room was very hot, and opening the windows let in a lot of street noise...

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
