Saint Germain des Pres is my favorite neighborhood to stay in when I visit Paris. It's a short walk to the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, fabulous shops and cafes, close to two Metro stops and a number of excellent restaurants. I've been to Paris dozens of times and for the past few years stayed in numerous hotels in the Saint Germain...

This hotel has been renovated recently, and unfortunately I think the previous decor was more appealing than the new palate. Very nice hotel, and rather good value for the area, which is perfect to walk to most of Paris's central attractions. Free wifi is basically ubiquitous for hotels everywhere, so that's no longer a good discriminator anymore. The rooms are...

I stayed there with my mother and grandmother who are both avid Paris visitors. They know all the sights and when I booked this hotel I thought they might find it too tourist-y. I, on the ither hand have only been to Paris a few times and was looking for the tourist-y feel. I can honsetly say this hotel was...

I have stayed at this hotel three times. I always find the hotel and the staff to be great. The standard rooms are very small but the others are fine. They continue to remodel and improve. The breakfast which can be enjoyed in the lovely courtyard is great. It is slightly more expensive than the cafe next door, but is...

After our original accomodations left us feeling sore and grimey from a sleepless night in a cramped and dirty room, we relocated and checked-in to Hotel Du Danube. This hotel truly turned the trip around for the better! It was a gem of a find. The price was higher but worth every penny. We stayed in both a superior room...

This is as good a location as you can get in Paris as it is centrally located with all the major sites walkable within half an hour. There are many bars and restaurants around the area and there is much to do. The hotel itself is nice enough with comfortable beds and it is clean. The lift is a bit...

We stayed at this hotel in May, 2012. The hotel is centrally located to many of the best sights in Paris. It is in the middle of a very nice part of St. Germain. Good restaurants are everywhere. It is within quick walking distance of the Seine (5 mins), Orsay (10 mins), Louvre (15 mins), Notre Dame (20 mins), Luxembourg...

My wife and I spent 5 delightful days here (room 20). My wife had seen the hotel on a prior trip and thought it looked cute. Our room was on the streetside, but on the 5th floor AND with double windows. We did not notice street noise. The room was plenty large, room for a small table and chairs (where...

Upon arrival reception did NOT have our reservation, which we'd made directly through the hotel, but we were upgraded for free to a larger room, which was all they had. We only spent one night before flying home, but the staff was very friendly and willing to help make arrangements to the airport. We wish we had more time there...

I was booked into this hotel on a work-related visit to Paris by my hosts, because of its convenient location for getting to my meetings. Check-in was smooth, and the room I stayed in (Comfort) was lovely with beautiful frames and wallpaper, and furniture which went perfectly with the historic feel of the hotel. The amenities in the room were...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
