We recently spent 4 days at this hotel - great location, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast (though replacement food too slow) BUT the hotel is NOT 4-Star and is certainly overpriced. Why, because the carpet was threadbare in places, the corridor stank and smelt dusty, the enamel on the bath was chipped etc.

After a four-day stay I can definitely recommend this hotel. The location is very nice, close to all the attractions of Montmartre (all within 15 minutes walking, many actually within 5), and also very close to a Metro station at Place de Clichy (2 minutes from the nearest entrance) – from there it’s just a 10-minute trip to Arc de...

Our main aim this trip to Paris was to see Moulin Rouge and do the mont martre/sacre couer area of this vibrant city. Mercure was the perfect place to do this from. A very short walk to the Moulin Rouge and also to the metro stop, needing only one line change and not too long to get to central Paris....

My husband and I spent five nights here in May, 2013. It was a great base for exploring Paris and particularly the Montmartre area. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet at night. It was a bit noisy in the mornings with doors slamming, chambermaids knocking on doors quite early, etc. so if you want a sleep-in, you may...

I stayed at the Mercure Montmartre with my 12-year-old son this past weekend and am very pleased indeed with my choice. We booked using British Airways Avios points, so there was no charge - but even if I had been paying I would have been very happy with the place. To begin with, the location is great - literally about...

Good location if you want to be in Montmatre, however it is quite a walk from the Sacre Coeur. Bedroom on the 4th floor was good and clean, however the corridor smelt strongly of fish every day I was there (4 days). There is no restaurant, so although you can get (an expensive) breakfast there you need to go out...

This was perfect for us as we were spending most of our time in and around Montmartre. For first time travellers to Paris, it's worth knowing that the hotel is away from the central tourist attractions. However there is a metro very close by and it's near a busy road where taxis can be hailed.

Avoid this hotel at all cost. The room looks old and dark. The only saving grace is that it's located near Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in during my European vacation. Definitely will not stay again in this hotel.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
