We stayed at the Hotel des Grands Hommes for 2 nights at the end of February 2008. The hotel was easy to get to from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport by train to the centre of Paris (St. Michel Station), then a 10 minute walk from the station to the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel our room had...

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and they all spoke good English. we did not have breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. After reading several wonderful online reviews for the Grands Hommes, I went to their website and booked a standard room for the last month of February. I arrived and was so delighted by the charming room in this elegant little hotel right in the middle of the Latin Quarter. Toile de Jouy lined walls, Empire decorations, lovely, modern bathrooms. The...

As you arrive at the hotel you are treated to the best aspect of the hotel, the location. Across the street from the Pantheon and close to Notre Dame, the hotel is in a very good location in the Latin Quarter. We stayed in a double room, which we found to be very small even by European standards. The bathroom...

Dear sir, I'm happy to see that you enjoyed the location of our establishment. The many reviews which I've read on Tripadvisor show me that despite the fact that the rooms are not huge, most of our guests enjoy the furniture & decoration of the rooms & of course the numerous adds-on we provide in addition of the room (free...

We have just returned from a short stay at this hotel. I have used Trip Advisor many times but this is the first time that I have felt so strongly that I wanted to write a review. I agree with all the good comments we read on Trip Advisor. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was very...

We found a great deal for this hotel thru fastbooking.com; instead of paying the 300 euro a night fee, we ended up spending around 100 euros a night. And what can I say...? It felt like a Parisian 300 euro a night hotel! The room was immaculate. The furnishing comfortable and the wallpaper whimsical, even a bit of a surrealistic...

We stayed at the Hotel des Grands Hommes from February 16-21. We had an excellent time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, but the norm for Paris and Europe in general. The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom very clean, and we felt very safe at the hotel's location. Speaking of location-the hotel...

Within 10 minutes' walk of St Germain and the river, and a couple of minutes from the Luxembourg Gardens, this place is excellent if you want a relatively quietly situated 'classy' small hotel with good rooms. As everyone says, the bedrooms are generally quite small in Parisian hotels, and our superior double was fairly tight, but very well furnished, with...

We recently returned from our stay of 4 nights at this hotel. The location can't be beat - a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame (and a 30 second walk to the Pantheon). The hotel was very clean. The room was small, but we are looking for a nice clean place to sleep, we aren't living in the hotel room...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
