A wonderful little hotel in a smart area just by the River Seine and the Musee D'Orsay. From here you can walk everywhere and get a real feel for the City without needing to keep disappearing down the Metro. Really helpful staff and a clean and comfortable room.

Have visited and loved this hotel for many years. Disappointed when it was modernised but now accept that it was probably necessary. I prefer a room with a bath not shower. We appreciate the friendship of Michel at the front desk.

This is a very good small hotel. Excellent staff, very nice rooms and in a quiet street but very close to major locations. Ideal for solo business travelers or couples. I would recommend this hotel strongly.

5 minutes from the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay. 10 from Palais Luxembourg and Notre Dame. A leisurely afternoon stroll can take you to the Eiffel Tower, Champs D'Elysee, and Arc de Triomphe. The D'Orsay Metro stop will get you to Chateau Versaille directly. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Buy your tickets to the Louvre and D'Orsay at the desk and...

I had a fabulous room overlooking the skyline of the Parisian apartments and the courtyard of the YSL design studio. I got to see the fashion designers in action. They would leave their doors open and I could see them dressing the models, etc. My room was lovely with wooden beams in the ceilings. The bathroom had a full sized...

I was attending a meeting in Paris and was booked into this hotel by my hosts. It is very simple, but the rooms are very clean, well-appointed, and have everything that one needs. It was also very well priced. It's not a luxury hotel but very good value in my opinion. Although I usually go for something more luxurious, I...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
