We have stayed in very chic and modern furnished family suit which have quite big rooms compared with others in Paris. Our 3 years old son loved the entrance door which has zebra drawings on it. He loved everthing actually. Kitchenette was full off essantials including a cattle, a microwave, plates and so on. We were 3i even 4 or... More

Hotel is okay, staff is friendly and helpful. Room is clean and spacious. Breakfast is poor. Next door Chinese restaurant is very good! Location is wonderful. I've seen better and I've seen worse. Might consider to visit again.

The excelsior Latin was fairly average - we came on a group trip. The lobby and downstairs were nice and well decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean but very basic and could have done with more lighting. The beds were quite comfortable but there was only one pillow each. The bathroom was very small (you... More

This hotel was in a great location, walking distance from Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens and more ! Great price, nice continental breakfast and the staff and service was great. The single rooms were normal European size, they were clean and comfortable and the common rooms in the hotel were furnished very nicely. I would stay here... More

Our stay in the hotel was pleasant. The gentleman at the reception was very helpful from the start as we had an unpleasant issue with the taxi driver wanting to charge us 4 times more than the normal fare.(Word of advice, it is better and cheaper to get 2 taxis than a 7 seater as they seem to wanting to... I stayed in a few hotels in Europe in early October and while this wasn't the fanciest one, l can say it was the one that I felt most at home in. The rooms were larger than I expected. From looking at other photos I gather than each room is a little unique. Mine was on the first floor and... More

I stayed one week at Excelsior Latin. First of all, the crew were very friendly. The hotel is small but has elevator which was great in terms of luggage. The room was great for two. The bathroom well clean and big which is rare in Paris. The breakfast was also a great surprise with hot croissants. The location was also... More

Excellent value, secure location, easy access to metro/buses but wonderful to explore surrounding neighbourhoods on foot. Highly walkable and steps away from Luxembourg Garden and near to sites along the Seine. The hotel has a small (typical European) lift/elevator, an electronic safe in the room for valuables, comfortable seating in the lounge areas and an option for a breakfast (10... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
