Superb location with the Luxembourg Gardens just 100 yards away at the bottom of the road and the superb restaurant La Ferandaise right next door .Rooms are typical Paris size so worth going for more than their standard . A little pricier but there are sometimes deals to be had . The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful...

The area around the Jardin du Luxembourg really is beautiful and this hotel is located on a fairly quiet street just off the gardens close to several metro stops. The reception staff were very courteous and professional and the hotel was one of the best 3-stars in which I've stayed in Paris from regular trips there over the years. The...

We stayed here for 4 days in May. I've been to Paris several times before, staying mostly in cheaper, small hotels in the 4th and 5th. We decided to splurge a bit and head for the 6th, and I was a little disappointed. I don't think the steep increase in price at Hotel Le Senat was worth what we got...

I took my wife for her first trip to Paris. She is very well travelled throughout France, speking the language fluently but had always avoided the capital. Paris has a reputation throughout the rest of the country of it's residence being rude and surly. Well upon arrival the staff of the hotel did everything possible to dispel that myth. Other...

This was a special trip as it was the first time that I had traveled to Paris and was taking my mother who also had not been before. We booked our hotel based on reviews from TravelAdvisor and were not disappointed! The hotel is located on a side street in a wonderful area near Luxumburg Gardens and just a few...

Our room was relatively small but I have never had a big room in a Parisian hotel of this class! The room was clean and the shower/bath and toilet were a reasonable size. The bed was very comfortable. Shower had a good flow of hot water. Sound proofing between rooms might be improved. Breakfast was good although not a lot...

I did enjoy this hotel because of the fantastic location and welcoming staff. The rooms are very very small. Great bed. A standard bathroom that needs some touching up. Although the cleaning lady forgot to clean on necessairy places. also hotel only provides 1 elevator which makes waitingtimes long!

This is the 5th time I have stayed at Le Senat and it never disappoints. It' s in a fantastic location served by a number of bus routes to main attractions - much better for sight-seeing than the Metro. You are spoilt for choice with a range of local eateries and Au Petit Suisse next door is great for a...

Lovely little hotel. Rooms are small ("superior" room I think is actually standard) but comfortable. This hotel is situated on a small side street so traffic noise is possibly less than other hotels I looked at (and walked past when there) which were on big main roads. Jardin de Luxembourg is beautiful and right on the doorstep. Many sights within...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
