A Very modest hotel. The rooms are small with very little in the way of comfort. A nice refurbished bathroom but little else. Only just enough room to move around the bed. Overall a good hotel for getting out and about but that is about it. Don't think I would return.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Le Compostelle, Paris, for 5 nights in late Dec/early Jan. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a very clean, smaller room with a shower stall for 2 nights and moved to a larger room with a tub/shower combination for the last 3 nights. The hotel...

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood with a lot of options for restaurants. It's close to the metro station and the Notre Dame Cathedral. The room is small, but considering the price for Paris, I wasn't expecting anything different.

Very friendly staff, comfortable, quirky room with really good-sized, well-appointed bathroom and good storage. Our room overlooked the courtyard so was nice and quiet at night. Be prepared to be awoken by the pigeons though! Good value for such a central situation. We'd definitely stay again.

We stopped in Paris and stayed at the Le Compostelle for a few days after completing a month of work in Russia's remote Sakha Rebuplic. Le Compostelle is a little gem of a hotel located perfectly in the Marais not far from the Seine and the Hotel de Ville (City Hall). Surrounded by quaint streets lined with fantastic shops and...

A good location, good price but noisy. We faced the street on the third floor. The bars and cafes around here must be quite busy at night or at least attract a boisterous crowd into the wee hours. Horns and motorcycles added to the noise ensemble. The room was sort of clean, not spotless for sure and could have used...

We spent 2 nights here during a city break on our way to our holiday in the Dordogne. It's a great location - just off the Rue de Rivoli - 7 minutes walk to Notre Dame, with Metro stations a few minutes walk and a bus stop 30 seconds away! There are plenty of restaurants and cafés within walking distance...

Good location, pleasant appointments. Problem was never receiving a requested wakeup call. Missed tour to Versailles. Desk person shrugged and said " Oh well, sometimes the system works and sometimes it doesn't"! Not even an apology. Fortunately for us, the tour company was very understanding and booked us an afternoon tour to Giverney. Which proved to be a very pleasant experience,...

We had a first floor room facing a small inner courtyard. The room windows had to be open for air and to cool the room. But, pigeons lived in the courtyard and they came to life making lots of noise about 4 AM. A restaurant shares the courtyard and they recycled glass and threw out garbage, making lots of noise...

We stayed recently for 4 nights and found it to be a great location, clean, friendly staff. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the street, can be noisy with windows open, did not eat the breakfast for 9 euros as the hours were short and so many other good places in the area. Our only complaint is the...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
