The Cluny Sorbonne Hotel is at a great location within the Latin Quarters surrounded by restaurants and small shops. *** Staff – very helpful and friendly *** Sleeping quarters - even though the rooms and bathroom were tiny (especially the bathtub), everything was very clean *** Breakfast at the hotel – for about 6 euros you can have a very...

My wife and I stayed at the Cluny-Sorbonne in early May, and we had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms, since we were in Normandy for 1.5 days in the middle of our trip and therefore checked out and checked in again in short succession. Our rooms were both doubles with showers, and the layouts were similar -...

We used tripadvisor to find an affordable, non-horrible hotel for our stay in Paris. Nevertheless, I was concerned--every other decent-sounding hotel was well over 100 Euro/night. I needn't have worried. Yes, the rooms are small, but if you've travelled around big-city Europe and stayed in budget accomodations, you know what to expect. This was, hands-down, the best hotel we've visited...

My wife and I just came back from a weekend in Paris having stayed at the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne. It was ideal for that purpose. We were barely in our room as it is so well situated, within walking distance of Notre-Dame, the river Seine and the hustle and bustle of the latin quarter. The room (a twin with shower)...

This is a cute little Parisian hotel and was perfect for our first visit to Paris. The rooms are TINY but most rooms in Paris are tiny. My mother and I stayed in the same room and we may as well have been sleeping in the same bed as there is only about an inch of space between them(we didn't...

Nice location. Good price. Close to restaurants, shopping and the Metro. The room (33) was small and overlooked a few classrooms at the Sorbonne. Some of the students would wave hello whenever classes were in session. We found the room to be a little noisy at night. The only electrial outlet in the room (for our shaver) was in the...

Great Location in the heart of the latin quarter, directly across from the Sorbonne. The area was quiet and filled with student and cafes. We paid 85 euro for a double room and it was worth every penny as we stayed in another hotel (Hotel Agora) for 97 euro and it was really not up to par. The elevator is...

We stayed at the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne from Oct. 1-4 and were very satisfied. We had room 53, which had a great view over the rooftops, the Sorbonne and the Pantheon. The room and the bathroom were small, especially the bathroom, but very clean. The breakfast (6€) consisted of Corn Flakes, yogourt, coffee or chocolate, croissants, marmalade and baguette. The...

My daughter & I stayed there during a recent visit. From the moment we walked in, the staff were welcoming and helpful. Elevator was small, and stairs were winding, but you have to remember this is Europe and is a very old building (as most are in this area). The room was small, as all hotels in Paris were, we...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
