The place is amazing. Great rooms. Great location (Notre Dame is very close). Staff is very helpful! There are a lot of restaurants and bars and cafes around. No WiFi the rooms, though. I highly recommend it.

Great location! Clean beds! Nice and helpful staff. Free wifi only in main dining room was not ideal. Also there was no printer which was not great. The breakfast was good. Bring a towel or buy one from somewhere else. They sell very small towels there for five euros each. The crowd there was very young. Mostly teenagers and their...

The location is perfect! The Maubuisson is in a pedestrian area in the Marais district. Notre Dame is barely a 10 min walk away, the Louvre 20min. Close to the Hostel is a bus stop for bus #69 which will take you along the main sights, ending at the Eiffel Tour. Just a few minutes in each directs will get...

The location was amazing ! The building a historic treasure ! But, it is a hostel and not a hotel. Are you prepared for that, so will you really enjoy the place. Breakfast was simple, but enough and good quality of the ingredients. The service was also very good. Kind and smily people.. I recommend it!

I enjoyed reading the reviews which reminded me of my several stays at the Maubuisson in 1975-76. It seems the best features of those experiences at that time are still available for current guests. My friends and I would take a two-hour train ride from Tours, where we were college students of Art and French. We loved the proximity to...

I wanted a reasonably cheap place to stay with a good location and this was perfect. It has a great location near the Seine river and the Marais district. A subway stop is a few blocks away. The place is run professionally and the facilities are maintained properly. I stayed in a room with four beds. The shower and sink...

I stayed here as part of a 3 day city break with two other friends. We booked a three bedroom private- this was a bunkbed and a single bed. Room was very basic but clean. The location is fantastic, very close to Notre Dame and a great area for bars/restaurants. Breakfast was great with bread, cereal, yoghurt, pastry and tea/coffee....

If you have a Romantic mindset and don't mind bunk beds, you can't do better than Les Maisons Internationale de la Jeunesse et des Etudiants (MIJE) in the Marais of Paris, one block from the Seine -- for about 32 Euros. And that includes breakfast and bottomless coffee! I have now stayed at least three times at each old mansion,...

Hostel was clean enough and the beds were comfortable enough. But I found there was more families there than young backpackers. The hostel always seemed deserted and no one was ever in the common area, it was almost creepy. Besides the lack in people the place was fine to sleep. Great location!! Hard to find though.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
