For some reason, I seem to have difficulties finding the right place for brunch, a place with a pleasant decor, scrumptious and innovative food and attentive and friendly service. I found places where 2 of the elements where present, never the 3 so far. And often it is the service that I find disappointing. Well not here, I went there... More

I lived in Paris ten years ago and visit 1-2 times a year but have never been in this little area where Hotel Edgar is. I'm glad to have visited. It's not a touristy area, nope, but it's an area going through regeneration - with the odd restaurant, bar and lovely hotel like this one. And also, you're only 5... More

I spend 10-15 nights a month in hotels, mostly large corporate chains. They could learn what authentic service and personality looks like from Hotel Edgar. Even though the hotel restaurant had long queues on most evenings, the wait staff took time to explain to me (in English) details about each and every menu item, and offered me small tastings of... Great place to stay for a long-weekend with friends, but do not expect an upscale and very posh hotel experience. It is more cool, trendy and laid-back, the reception is squeezed in between the very hip and happening restaurant and the toilet, a funny and strange solution, but very space efficient. The rooms are also very space efficient, and very... More

This hotel was the biggest surprise. In a location I'd not stayed in before, hotel staff were super friendly, and the hotel had a great vibe. We LOVED our rooms, and I love the concept of each room having a different theme. It's in a great location from Gare du Nord on the metro (20mins door to door if not... More

Great place to stay in central Paris. Staff are ultra friendly and helpful The place is cool and pretty funky - almost like a Paris version of the Hoxton Hotel in London Highly recommended and we stayed here on 2 separate nights

Absolutely satisfied with this place. The staff were great & the location was okay but away from the major traffic streets & major sites. Two different metro lines not far from hotel, restaurants just around the block if you want something other than the downstairs restaurant. It's a little noisy at times since it is a trendy hotel with a... More

Good review first...the staff was amazingly friendly for Paris! Unfortunately, that is the only good thing about this place. The location is just awful. As a single woman traveler, I simply did not feel safe walking to / from this hotel to the major sights. Loads of sex shops, peep shows and prostitutes around the hotel, and dodgy looking shops... Dear Nicole, We are really sorry to read that your stay in Paris was not upto your expectations! The hotel is located in "Sentier" and you are right, it is not a classical tourist area. However, it is a very attractive and trendy area of Paris and the press is really talking a lot about it because of its expansion,... More

Room is soooooooo small, but the staff is sooooo great! Also the location at 2nd arr. is very central. Quiet with a pleasant breakfast whenever and wherever you like (just don't have it in the room as the tray doesn't go in ...) room is very clean, badly misses a mirror and a minibar.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
