Detailed Reviews
The hotel is in the ideal location for visiting Paris. It’s a 3 minute walk from the nearest Metro Station (Gare De l’est). Close to restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful, letting us check into 2 out of the 3 rooms we have booked early. The rooms were small, the bathroom small but we had a good deal for all 3 rooms with breakfast included so can’t moan too much about the size. The one thing I will say though and we found this a problem with all our rooms - the shower door did not fit/close properly so when you were in the shower it would pour all over the ballroom floor! Apart from this, excellent stay and would return without a doubt.

The Mercure Paris Gare de l’Est Hotel is within easy walking distance from Gare du Nord Train Station and Gare de l’Est Train Station. We stayed in a family privilege room that included a complementary minibar and breakfast.
We arrived early in the morning after a Eurostar from London, obviously it was too early to check in but the friendly receptionist stored our cases for us until we came back later in the day.
Our room was clean and consisted of a king bed and sofabed that was made up ready. Even though we were overlooking the street there was no discernible noise at night.
We made use of the complementary minibar, it was only soft drinks and water but it was very welcome.
Breakfast was served in the basement, there was not an extensive selection but it was more than adequate.
The area has an abundance of restaurants as well as a McDonalds just a few steps away.
In summary I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Front of house staff were friendly & helpful. Housekeeping was sloppy, extra pillow cases left in our room after changing the linen. Used bath towels removed but not replaced. Toilet seat & toilet paper holder needed repair. Lift broke 5 times during our 7 night stay, the last time was told would take days to replace a part.

Dear kurt63mh, Thank you for taking the time to write to us following your stay at our hotel. Thank you for the positive review you left on our hotel. Thank you for highlighting the welcome and availability of our receptionist! We are absolutely sorry for the problems encountered with the cleaning of your room. We made a point with the house keepers so that this does not happen again. Indeed, we are absolutely sorry for the inconvenience caused by the breakdown of the elevator; we are always waiting for the reception of a piece that must be changed in the elevator. We hope to have the great pleasure of welcoming you soon and thank you for your trust. Laura Romero - Reception Service

I don't want to give any star for the rude manner of this staff. The hotel's lift isn't working from the ground floor to the 1st fl. And a woman at the reception when I check-in was so kind to help us for carrying our luggage to the 1st floor but when we would to check-out a staff who is a young lady she refused us to help for carrying our luggage to ground fl. I have to beg her for help and we’re not prepared to go to the hotel without an elevator like this.
>>> Yes, she helped us, but she refused at first and we have to beg her twice the time for helping, she showed a very displeased look on her face. It made us feel terrible having to ask her for help as we had to rush to the airport because we had reserved a taxi. So, should we be shown this kind of service from the staff that should? Do you have more service mind? Please note that this hotel is strongly not recommended to stay with because the elevator is out of order from ground fl. to 1st fl. and staff does not have the service in mind.

My room overlooking the park, was extremely noisy. There is a building site next door and building starts at 7am. And there’s jackhammers during the day. Also, on the road below, was a metal plate, which banged every time a car drove over it (24/7). They should not be charging full price for the rooms affected by this noise. I took it up with the female receptionist who told me there’s construction all around Paris. Her attempt to deflect missed me. When I insisted, she said she would email her manager and send me a reply. 2 weeks later, no response. Clearly no action was taken. They should not be charging full price for these rooms. Very poor customer concern/service by this hotel.

Friendly staff, good location with bars, restaurants and supermarkets near by. As with any Paris hotel small rooms, but this was particularly small, not much room in the shower room to move around and dry yourself, but nice rain shower. Clean. No point to the TV not many channels and BBC World News did not work. All in all would stay again but only if they had a bigger room

Good location near Gare de l'est. Lift was out of order (fine with us, maybe less so with elderly/disabled people or those with lots of luggage). Rooms and bathroom were clean but for sure on the smaller side (sort of to be expected in Paris). Check in-/out process was smooth.
Ongoing construction in the block made for some disturbing noise - yet the hotel is not to be blamed for this.

Awful hotel. Noisy, small, dirty building. Room was a prison cell. No space to move around, anywhere, neither around the bed nor in the bathroom without hitting the walls. A coffin of a shower unable to move around or bent. The smallest and cheapest matrasses we ever had to sleep on. With construction works right outside our window there was no relaxation possible. Banging and drilling from 6am. The worst Mercure hotel we stayed in. What a dump.

I read a varied bunch of reviews on here but none that I felt did this hotel justice. I can to Paris for my birthday and it was the best one ever. This was mainly down to this hotel. We were not able to find the hotel at first but a quick call to them and we were given full directions. We were greeted at the front desk by a very pleasent man who was extremely helpful. Another man was also working at the front desk during our stay and both of these people were so warm and friendly towards us.They helped us to find places that we wanted to go, looked on the internet for anything they weren't sure off. The hotel room was a perfect size for two people, the bathroom was also the right size. Rooms are cleaned everyday and toiletries and towels replaced. Tea and coffee facilities plus a safe were a bonus. The hotel is situated in a good location maybe not the poshest but its not that bad either. The beds are comfy and we did not hear any noise when we were sleeping. There are enough food places within walking distance do nobody will go hungry especially with mcdonalds across the road. Metro station is also 5 miutes along the road so you can travel around with ease. I would recommend for people who are not snobs and I would happily stay there again myself.

I stayed at the hotel for one night with a friend and have to say its fine as a base for exploring Paris with both positive and negative points.
Positives:
The hotel is close to the Gare du Nord around a five minute walk.
If you're arriving into Paris early and leaving late then the hotel has a room for your luggage at no extra charge which is great for getting the most our of your trip.
The hotel is only small which is reflected in the room size but you're not going to Paris to spend your time in a hotel room..... the city has far too much for you to see !!
There is an additional charge for breakfast and this is worth every euro with a good choice including hams, cheese, hot options, fruit and of course French pastries.
Negatives:
I guess the main negative of this hotel is in its location, be prepared for a lot of street noise. I would also say that if you are travelling as a female party then walking the streets around the hotel at night after dark can feel a little intimidating .
Would I stay at the Mecure again ?? Yes with my husband I would not think twice about it, however staying with a girlfriend perhaps not.
