Typical Parisian welcome from front desk staff. No elevator means you have to lug your suitcases etc up a narrow winding staircase which is something travellers should be aware of when booking. Room pleasant and warm and quiet.. Opposite a dodgy bar(brothel) on the other side of the road but it was quiet and no problem. Great location for train...

Small poky hotel, no elevator, very old fashioned, claustrophobic, very steep stairs. My room on the 4th floor (remember no elevator and steep spiral stairs) was in desperate need of redecoration, both in the room and the en suite. Think Fawlty Towers and you're about on the money. It was clean, but the previous guest had left his half consumed...

small hotel, 4 floors with two rooms at each floor and no lift. Room is not big but it's clean. Room is equipped with wi-fi and tv. I had a room at 4th floor so ceiling is lower than standard. There is no air condition so in hot summer period is not well. The receptionists are kind and helpful.

It's very costly to stay near railway stations and unusually the quality and reception are poor. This hotel, whilst not modern and not large makes a huge effort to provide a clean, well equipped room, with friendly service. The owner did everything he could to be helpful, even carrying my heavy suitcase to my room. The rooms are small as...

Hotel very convenient to Montparnasse train station and airport bus, really close to metro, lots of restaurants nearby Including cheaper ethnic open late if arriving late, Just down the road Galleries Lafayette and a Monoprix . Easy walking to shopping areas. Wifi worked. The room had a new clean bathroom with a great shower, which is a unlikely pleasure for...

Room is a block from the Montparnasse Metro and train station. Lots of restaurants and shops around. Room was actually pretty large (got the double room with queen size bed). Didn't appear to have central air, but I stayed in October so it wasn't needed. No elevator, which might be an issue for higher floors, but the proprietor insisted on...

Stayed 2 nights there. Bedroom in the front on the street but still quiet. Overall clean. minimalistic though. forget nice shampoo bottles or shower gel. good old soap bar!! Very nice and friendly staff though. Breakfast is OK - very French "Parsisien" - Baguette, Oeuf, yogurt... Pillows were dreadful however. Bed OK. Really near Montparnasse so ideal for public transport...

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighbourhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
