This small hotel is located right across the street from the majestic Cathedral. We arrived in Bayeux by car, dead tired, and our GPS thankfully took us to within 50 yards of the hotel. There was no place to park, so we pulled up on the sidewalk and went inside to register. There was only 1 receptionist on duty, so...

Hotel Reine Mathilde is a good base for exploring the town and the region. The staff are helpful, parking is easy, and the location is very picturesque near a canal and the Cathedral. In town you can walk to everything, and driving to the D-Day sights and Mont St. Michel is convenient. The only proviso is that there is no...

Generally we found the Hotel Reine Mathilde a bit average really, and were a little surprised by some of the high rating reviews here. Our "comfort" room, in the "annexe" was acceptable, if a bit poorly furnished - no actual wardrobe just open shelves, no drawers, etc. (see below). When checking in/out, we felt the hotel staff had to be...

We arrived from Paris by train and then took a cab to get our rental car. The Hotel was a little hard to find for us Americans not used small streets with their names on the side of buildings. We found the hotel and parked two blocks away on a weekend. It was solstice weekend, so the city was very...

Great location and within walking distance of everything. Comfortable, clean rooms, hot water! No a/c, but at least 1 window opened, along with a fan and we were plenty cool for sleeping (and we were there during some hot days). For a little extra room, reserve the comfort room. We included the continental breakfast which was plenty--meats, cheeses, hard boiled...

Dear Mindygal, We thank you for your great review on Tripadvisor about Hotel Reine Mathilde. It's a high pleasure to notice you enjoyed your stay with us. We are delighted you were pleased by your rooms (which were renovated three years ago). Tje breakfast is effectively plenty for the price of 9.50euros. For those who want to eat later than...

Stayed here for three nights during the Bayeux medieval festival. The town itself is charming and quaint, and the crowds from the festival gave it massive life. The hotel is centrally located, right up the street from the Cathedral, and around the corner from dozens of nice (relatively inexpensive) places to eat. The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating—one member...

Dear Lydia81184, It's a pleasure to read your comment and the whole staff thank you for sharing your experience. Effectively, the hotel is centrally located. The comfort of our clients is essential for the staff and helping you with your luggage was the least that we could do. We would be pleased to receive you again, Kind regards, Barbara

OK – this hotel is centrally located within walking distance to the cathedral and Bayeux tapestry, but that’s about as much as you could give it credit for. The stairs are steep and narrow and there is no elevator. We checked in (on line) for three nights and upon arrival were told that there had been a mix-up with room...

A popular hotel which is very well situated within 2 mins walk of the centre, Bayeux Tapestry, Cathedral, shops, restaurants etc. (The big plus) Free parking can be found within a 6 mins walk of the hotel. The bedroom was clean but small. One had to be very careful not to graze oneself (and we are not tall !) when...

A nice hotel in a great location. The rooms were modest, but comfortable. The only issue was the bathrooms were absolutely tiny. Only one person at a time. The hotel restaurant was really good and the hotel offered a nice buffet breakfast (for 9 Euros I think).
