I ended up at this hotel after finding the Hotel d'Orleans, which I had booked, had been bought by the owners of the Petit Duquesne (they also own the slightly more upmarket nearby Duquesne Hotel). I paid the rate I had been offered at the Hhotel d'Orleans, which is a bit lower than the standard rate for the Petit Duquesne.... More

Booked through reputable on-line provider, but receptionist "could not find" booking. Lucky I had a print-out, which he asked could he keep! (No chance!) No apology, this bearded "gentleman" tried to make out it was our fault, lucky I had the evidence with me. Bad start with an unpleasant "welcome". Room clean, but very basic and a long climb to... 2 star. Small, older hotel in great location walking distance to major attractions (if you’re able-bodied) on somewhat busy street with tram line. Very, small, well-appointed, quiet room. Public parking garage 200 yards away; cost 23€ for36 hours. P.D. 9 €, good selection & good service. Helpful staff. We think Hotel name is Duquesne, not le Petit Duquesne.

The room that i had was fine - especially considering the low price. While small it was clean and comfortable. There was no view as it faced and internal courtyard but that meant it was quiet. Reception operates only part of the time but there is electronic access that works fine. The breakfast was good quality and very good value.

Positives: In close proximity to the major sights, restaurants, and public transportation. Bedding was clean. Negatives: Tiny rooms with microscopic bathrooms. The rooms are in desperate need of a make-over. There was a huge stain on our carpet, paint peeling off dusty skirting boards, mould in the shower & around sink, and dust on furniture. Would not recommend unless you... More
