Loved the creamy colors, carpets, 10-foot windows, elegant stone mantel, and built-in cabinets in our high-ceilinged rooms. Trompe l'oeil ceilings over the wide central staircase added interest to every walk up or down. The river, the town center and the hilltop Chateau de Saumur are all nearby on foot. (Indeed, the river is across the road.) We arrived after a...

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a tour. The location is good allowing a quick walk into the town. The hotel, however, is in need of a refresh. We had a room on the second floor and the hall carpeting was very worn and faded. Our room had a very old, heavy bedspread, a fan (no A/C), and...

This hotel (we spent three nights here) was the best on our tour of the French provincial countryside. To be honest,we had an upgraded room with a wonderful view overlooking the Loire River and a delightful sitting area. The location was ideal---restaurants and sights were close by. We would highly reccmmend.

Anne D’anjou is a comfortable and well positioned hotel over looking the Loire river. It was once a private mansion, converted to an hotel in the 80’s. While it might be today be considered a little lack lustre the hotel retains its character. It is comfortable with friendly and supportive staff. Its great attributes are its courtyard over shadowed by...

Other reviews have described this hotel as dated yet I was pleased that they had not overly modernised a beautiful building and had retained the charm and elegance. The rooms are good not great but the location, by the river and directly below the chateau is excellent. The staff were fantastic, all spoke excellent English and were very helpful and...

Our room was on the second floor....a little noisy from outside road . View was magnificent facing the river. We had very hot nights there, we were not told to keep the windows closed if we put the lights on. We came back from dinner and the room was infested with bugs. Staff was very helpful, cleaned up well, brought...

We thank you for posting a comment. Indeed the river view from your room is magnificent, as you may know the Loire Valley is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. Of course when opening window during summer night with lights on, bugs will enter the room but this would happen anywhere you would go, not only in Saumur ! Especially...

This hotel is located just under the big chateau in Saumur. Lovely place. Our room was large and very well appointed. The bed was not particularly comfortable, but otherwise we were quite happy with it and the view across the Loire from our window was great. The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the back courtyard very much. The...

A good location on the Loire with the Castle in the background. Rooms are very basic for the price, but good for restaurants, the river and shopping. The staff are very friendly and speak English well.

A lovely traditional hotel, beautifully positioned in Saumur, right on the river but five mins from the centre, so quiet but convenient. Parking is a bit random, but we generally managed to find a (free) space right outside. They have secure parking but it seemed unnecessary. Breakfast is good but quite pricey - worth it if you are fuelling up...

This renovated hotel is beautiful and in a stunning setting. One side you have a sweeping view of the Loire and on the other Saumur's chateau. What is not to like. The only thing that prevents a 5* review is the lack of air conditioning, which with temperatures in the mid 30C's made sleeping difficult. Do not let this put...

We are delighted to read such comments and Thanks for staying with us ! Indeed Hotel Anne Anjou is rated 4 star and aircon could be convenient but heat wave does not occur so often around here ... we try hard to keep rooms as cool as possible caring about daily attention and comfort for our guests.
