Hotel's Favourite
The location, on-site breakfast, rooms, and extra services were all great. The one thing that still stands out in my mind weeks later was assistance provided by "Stephanie" at the front desk. Our tour company changed where we'd be staying and this messed up the "extra" nights that we'd be staying at the Mercure. I thought that we'd need to pack up and move to their other location. But Stephanie volunteered to see what she could do. After a few phone calls, she told us that we could stay right where we were and at no extra charge. To me, Stephanie's efforts were above and beyond my expectations and hopes !!!!

First time in Avignon and as Accor member, I use the opportunity to book Mercure Pont d’Avignon hotel with the idea to be closer to this historical landmark. All the process, starting with the booking of the hotel, correspondence prior the arrival, all the info received with instructions and guidance, the reception, room, service... everything was just great and unexpected considering the actual COVID situation. The hotel doesn’t have his own parking but the Pales de Papes city parking it is situated right under the hotel with a direct tunnel to the hotel and drop off parking. The reception a little bit unusual (a round bar table with a laptop on it) but with a very friendly staff whom gave us all the necessary details regarding our stay and also offering us city tips and suggestions. As Accor member we got the privilege of a free upgrade to a “privilege room” where to our pleasant surprise, the house keeping still came daily to refresh the towels and add coffee and drinks in the minibar. Despite the COVID situation, the hotel still made an effort to offer for breakfast a reduced buffet, of course requesting all the guests to clean their hands at the entrance and wear a mask (and they did keep an eye that those rules are respected by everyone - well done!).
The hotel is located at 3 min walk from the Palace de Papes AND Pont d’Avignon and only few min walk to the center of the city where many restaurants are located and the City Hall. Advise for those visiting Avignon, don’t jump on the restaurants in the city centre, just have a walk on the side streets and you will be able to discover a big amount of restaurants which can offer you better choices in much better locations.
Overall, our stay in Avignon was a delight and we were happy to have choose Mercure Pont d’Avignon.
Thank you for making for us a memorable holiday!

We stayed here during the Covid crisis. Check-in was incredibly fast and efficient with the keys already prepared. We are a family of 5 needing 2 rooms and they gave us a great suite/twin room next to each other. Only disappointment was that the restaurant was shut and there was nowhere to get a drink other than a fridge in reception. However, the location is very central and it was a short walk to many famous landmarks and also to restaurants and bars. Despite being central, the hotel was very easy to get to - a 10min easy drive from the autoroute exit. Real fast was a basic buffet but more than enough to start the day.

The location is the best asset of this hotel. It's right next to the Palais de Papes and other main attractions in Avignon. Parking is literally in the same building so very convenient. Staff are helpful and kind.
However, we found the value to be poor as the room is shockingly small. We get that it is located in an old town and right in the centre, but we come from Paris and even for us we feel the Superior Room is simply too small for the average family. The bathroom is so cramped it feels like showering on a cruise ship bathroom. Also the cleanliness and maintenance leaves much room for improvement. There are very visible signs of wear and tear in the room and throughout the hotel, like stained carpets, dirty towels, peeling corners, broken lamps, layer of dust on the hairdryer and room amenities...
It's a perfectly fine hotel to stay overnight to explore the city and surroudning areas but I'd advise against a longer stay.

I am sorry to give this such a poor rating because I liked much about this hotel, but there were enough problems that really shouldn’t have been for this price and this class of hotel.
Pros: 1) fabulous location near palais and old town center; 2) nice staff; 3) AC; 4) quiet, sound proof windows; 5) clean and safe; 6) nice patio to sit and have glass of wine in evening and breakfast in morning; 7) good about covid precautions.
Cons: 1) safe in room was broken and although they said they would send someone to fix it, they never did; 2) refrigerator was broken in our room and a second family room did not even have one; 3) in four days, the water in shower was warm only once, the other days it was ice cold.
I might stay here again but will probably check out other Mercury hotel first.

A comfortable hotel perfectly positioned inside the city walls, ideal for visiting Avignon.
Reception was efficient but not particularly welcoming. Room was ok but small. Dreadful view of some flats and the roof of the restaurant. Because of its location, everything feels cramped.
The real problem is access to the car park, which is essentially attached to the hotel, but required many stairs, corridors and doors to access. If you have luggage and have any physical disabilities, you will NOT be able to carry it from the car to the hotel. There is a notional drop off, taken by a group of bikers when we arrived! But there is no possibility of pick up. You will have a challenging walk.
Breakfast was shambolic: staff couldn’t cope with the number of guests; orange juice machine broken; shortage of breakfast items; milk in coffee was on the turn.
Ok for a one night stay if you are fit!

Great location close to everything. Staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were a bit small but comfortable. The air conditioning was very slow to cool the room, they need to work on that especially in the summer months. Breakfast was good. Be careful of the shower when another room flushes the toilet it goes hot and very cold. It did so several times while I was showering.

Good hotel, very central and very well located, the parking is very convenient and has ample parking spaces. The rooms are comfortable, somewhat tight, but complete, the bathrooms are also somewhat tight but very correct. The breakfast is varied, but the replenishment rate is not as expected for an establishment of this chain. The staff is correct

Nothing to say about the welcome which is very good. We are told that we have been upgraded and that we will have a family suite. We discover with amazement that to access it we have to push a breakfast tray which is there in front of the door even though it is after 3:30 p.m. Inside the room it's not better. The carpet is full of stains, we don't know if it's vomit or burnt. The balcony railing is rusty, the grilles too. The coffee pod box is very dirty, leaking old coffee. The box only contains skimmed milk, no pods, we have to ask for them. The following ? A dilapidated sofa placed in a room with dirty carpet, stained with a sort of crust. The bed is comfortable but it seems to me that it is a minimum because apparently it is a 4 star. The bathroom: the bathtub has a groove on each side full of mold. No work has been done for a long time I imagine given the state. The breakfast is passable, nothing to do with a 4 star it's rubbish. The restaurant bar where we had an aperitif is very good, the waiter who makes the cocktails is top notch. For everything else that concerns the hotel, everything needs to be reviewed. Not worthy of a 4 star, big regret for having stayed at the Mercure pont d'Avignon.

We have been guests of the Mercure Pont d'Avignon during the Theater Festival for years, so I think I can afford to pass judgment.
The hotel's location in the fanciest part of town - and quietest during the festival - is excellent. However, the house needs a general renovation because, in my opinion, there has not been much investment in recent years. The breakfast buffet reached the level of an Ibis: this year, for example, there was no yogurt, tomatoes or raw ham, but the hotel was invaded at 7 a.m. by music strong coming from the narrow interior courtyard. The management also seems very attached to the events organized in the evening in the interior courtyard with lots of music. However, I dare to doubt that such an orientation is the right concept for the Mercure brand...
