The one thing we do when writing a review is to be fair from all sides. With this property, we struggled with how to present our stay. Three and a half stars would have been better, but we gave three because of several things, one of which is no fault of the hotel. First, the room was of decent size. We had twin beds pushed together. Not the most comfortable of beds, but wasn't a deal-breaker. We were only going to be there for two nights. The location is excellent. Minutes walk to the train station, and optimal for day trips, etc. Plenty of restaurants around, and Avignon is very walkable. The lobby looked like it had been redone, and the decor was nice. The breakfast was very good as well. The biggest issue we had was the bathroom floor. It obviously had water damage. The floor was warped and obviously had a mold issue underneath it that surfaced. In any hotel, we would think that this would be an easy enough fix to remove the laminate flooring and either replace it or put tile down. It was not a big bathroom. We were surprised that they would rent a room with this floor looking the way it did. We didn't complain because we were only there two days, and we had been told they were quite full. The room was warm and stuffy on arrival, so we had to open windows as we were told the AC was not turned on yet. The room faced the street and while a decent view, the noise at night was very loud. Lots of loud people out partying until all hours of the night, cars racing up and down the street, then came the early morning deliveries, trash pick-up, etc. This is no fault of the hotel of course, but in order for the room not to be stuffy, cracking the windows was the only way to help cool it off. We did ask for a fan, but never got it. I think if it were a different room, we may have given it a full four stars. The only other problem was the poor guy working the front desk early Sunday morning. We had an early train to Paris to catch, and the fellow was setting up for breakfast. He was confused with our bill, and seemed at odds with what to do. He then left, and we assumed he was checking on something, but went back to setting up. We finally said we had to leave for that train, and he came back and tried to figure it out, which he did. I would still recommend this hotel as it does have a lot to offer and would possibly rebook there again. Hopefully they will check out the bathroom floors. It's just to easy a fix to leave it to bad reviews.…
We stayed here on route to a wedding and it was a perfect choice. We travelled to Avignon by train so the hotel’s location a stones throw from the central train station and main city attractions was perfect. Our bedroom and bathroom were large, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The decor of the hotel has a retro feel with a relaxed ambience. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with a choice of hot & cold food. The staff were helpful and efficient and the reception staff booked a taxi for us when we were leaving. If we returned to Avignon, would stay again
Average hotel. Well located. That said, have you ever experienced that in a 4-star hotel your room was not cleaned? I saw the advise when arrived. I though it was covid-19 rules, in spite of they are no restrictions at all now in France (even masks are not mandatory inside buildings) The advise said that if you want your room to be cleaned, you need to tell to the reception staff. So do I. The guy noted my request… but the room was not arranged the next day. When checked out, the day after, I expressed that, because of this, our experince at the hotel was not 100% to get a simple “I am sorry” from the man who attended us…
We spend 1 night, 2 rooms booked. Great location, Hotel Staff very kind, especially Allison; smiling warm, and who gave us good advice for a restaurant. Rooms are quiet, with nice/cozy decorations like the lobby/breakfast bar area.
As we all should know, the stars in different countries mean a different thing. Personally I’m looking for a place to stay that gives me the experience I expect to get for the euros or dollars I’m paying for the stay. This means the stars are irrelevant. The price should act as a guide what to expect and on this respect Bristol did fill my expectations with flying colours. Now, you can always search for missing paint here or thereand probably will find that here too, but considering Bristol has a very good location, Jean Jaures parking almost next to it and a decoration which at least to my eye leads to 20’s Art Deco we found the hotel nice and would certainly come again. Service was polite at the reception by the younger and older staff as in the bar. Actually I was surprised how polite and friendly people were on our week long car tour in Provence. Our family room was spacy with seperate bath room and toilet, view wasn’t anything to mention of but wedidnt come here to stare out ofthe window. Hotel is near the old town walls, and for us it took maybe 10 mins to walk to Palais. Nearer to that are the flock of restaurants, so for us with a car I bet the location was the best for us. Breakfast contains the essentials andserved us well (15 eur), 2days parking was 38ish euro in JJ So, all in all quite nice hotel especially for the price we paid.…
