The room was clean and well laid out, and included some teas, coffees and shampoo, shower gel etc. When booking, we had the choice of a room with a shower or a bath which was nice, and the in-room fridge was very useful for storing food to take out for lunches. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of French and European favourites. They also had alternative milks which was cool to see.
We used the restaurant a fair bit and they were generally very good, aside from one slightly cold piece of meat. They also were able to take allergies into consideration, which was greatly appreciated, aside from some issues with residue left on plates etc. at breakfast.
Lovely and friendly staff who were very helpful. Overall, would recommend for anyone visiting Avignon as a really nice and well situated place to stay.
The hotel is located almost next door to the railway station (Avignon Centre - not the TGV station) and just across the road from the city wall, so about a 10-minute walk into the city centre.
In summary, with Novotel hotels you know what you're going to get and this hotel did not disappoint. The service, room, and buffet breakfast were good - no complaints.
If returning to Avignon, we will stay here again.
really very unpleasant after the welcome at the exceptional bar and at the spa too
I thank the person who received us the next morning at check out time who was finally very pleasant to us
but in 10 years of being a customer at Accor this is the first time I have been received so badly
Apart from the festival, the Nespresso machine in the suite did not work. Novotel staff said it did work. Getting someone over to double check was not possible. 'Bad luck sir, we'll have a look next week'. Talking customer friendlyness again ... Although the hotel looks attractive on paper (and could be) it's the poor attitude and lack of attention for their guests that make this a 'not recommended' . Altough I'm an Accor member, this hotel will not see me again.
The staff is unpleasant, no smile, everything is self-service, no help.
The suite (well the name given to a slightly larger room because it is not a suite) which is dilapidated on the walls, the carpet smells bad, the child's bed was not made on arrival , no special samples given in the room (compared to a standard room) and no special attention
The biggest downside (having already stayed in the hotel I see a huge difference) is in the breakfast
ALL the food offered is industrial!!! Waffles, pancakes, madeleines, brioches, no fresh fruit salad, the orange juice must be squeezed yourself and the machine is 1/2 blocked and it's up to us to unblock it!
It is certain that there must have been a change of Chef in the kitchen because we clearly do not have the breakfast standards that the Novotel once offered us! A crepe or waffle batter at least is the expected basic otherwise you might as well go to Carrefour for breakfast you will get the same thing and cheaper :)
The plus of the hotel: the central location but unfortunately for all these negative points which are not worthy of an Accor chain hotel we will not return!
we offer it to you from 4:00 p.m.…and with a certain disdainful tone.
In addition, management is able to affirm that you displayed the do not disturb sign despite your formal protest (they have no problem calling you a liar...).
Apart from this lack of consideration towards the customer, the hotel deserves at most a 3 star -
But especially catering. Simply monstrous. The bar tender is incapable of making an acceptable cocktail and the plate... croque monsieur with raclette cheese... fries in aged oil... salad flooded with miserable and useless balsamic: the salad was cooked. We won't finish this abominable plate.
Will we come back? Certainly not!
The Novotel standard seems to be collapsing!
