Fantastic location and great room. It was very easy to reach from the train station, and all the main attractions were easily walkable within 10/15 minutes of the hotel. The views out the window of the city walls were brilliant!

The room was clean and well laid out, and included some teas, coffees and shampoo, shower gel etc. When booking, we had the choice of a room with a shower or a bath which was nice, and the in-room fridge was very useful for storing food to take out for lunches. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of French and European favourites. They also had alternative milks which was cool to see.

We used the restaurant a fair bit and they were generally very good, aside from one slightly cold piece of meat. They also were able to take allergies into consideration, which was greatly appreciated, aside from some issues with residue left on plates etc. at breakfast.

Lovely and friendly staff who were very helpful. Overall, would recommend for anyone visiting Avignon as a really nice and well situated place to stay.

We stayed here for one night in January 2023.

The hotel is located almost next door to the railway station (Avignon Centre - not the TGV station) and just across the road from the city wall, so about a 10-minute walk into the city centre.

In summary, with Novotel hotels you know what you're going to get and this hotel did not disappoint. The service, room, and buffet breakfast were good - no complaints.

If returning to Avignon, we will stay here again.

so the hotel is very good but surprise on Saturday evening when we returned our room was not made and at reception the person told me that it would stay like that and that if I wanted towels I would have to come and get them myself
really very unpleasant after the welcome at the exceptional bar and at the spa too
I thank the person who received us the next morning at check out time who was finally very pleasant to us
but in 10 years of being a customer at Accor this is the first time I have been received so badly

Spending 2 nights, we noted there was a small festival in the hotel for a whole week. And in such case, that seems to mean for Novotel that their guests are OBSOLETE : no notification upfront (not even for their 'members'), no access to pool area in the evening after a day in the city, even in the restaurant we were completely neglected. All attention goes to their event. More : the restaurant served as a kind of backstage. Nice setting for a meal with poor service.

Apart from the festival, the Nespresso machine in the suite did not work. Novotel staff said it did work. Getting someone over to double check was not possible. 'Bad luck sir, we'll have a look next week'. Talking customer friendlyness again ... Although the hotel looks attractive on paper (and could be) it's the poor attitude and lack of attention for their guests that make this a 'not recommended' . Altough I'm an Accor member, this hotel will not see me again.

We stayed 4 days at the Novotel at the end of August as a family in a suite (805) but the experience was very mediocre compared to the last time we stayed there.

The staff is unpleasant, no smile, everything is self-service, no help.

The suite (well the name given to a slightly larger room because it is not a suite) which is dilapidated on the walls, the carpet smells bad, the child's bed was not made on arrival , no special samples given in the room (compared to a standard room) and no special attention

The biggest downside (having already stayed in the hotel I see a huge difference) is in the breakfast
ALL the food offered is industrial!!! Waffles, pancakes, madeleines, brioches, no fresh fruit salad, the orange juice must be squeezed yourself and the machine is 1/2 blocked and it's up to us to unblock it!
It is certain that there must have been a change of Chef in the kitchen because we clearly do not have the breakfast standards that the Novotel once offered us! A crepe or waffle batter at least is the expected basic otherwise you might as well go to Carrefour for breakfast you will get the same thing and cheaper :)

The plus of the hotel: the central location but unfortunately for all these negative points which are not worthy of an Accor chain hotel we will not return!

When at 2:30 p.m. you realize that the cleaning is not done and you call the reception to have it done, so that you can rest,
we offer it to you from 4:00 p.m.…and with a certain disdainful tone.
In addition, management is able to affirm that you displayed the do not disturb sign despite your formal protest (they have no problem calling you a liar...).
Apart from this lack of consideration towards the customer, the hotel deserves at most a 3 star -

VRP decoration... or cheap tourism (that's the atmosphere)... rooms with honorable comfort but nothing more (linen); rough carpet and multiple DIY projects that could be better finalized…

But especially catering. Simply monstrous. The bar tender is incapable of making an acceptable cocktail and the plate... croque monsieur with raclette cheese... fries in aged oil... salad flooded with miserable and useless balsamic: the salad was cooked. We won't finish this abominable plate.

Will we come back? Certainly not!
The Novotel standard seems to be collapsing!

Everything was perfect with my stay here during Covid times - really well-appointed hotel, large, comfortable rooms, very quiet. I liked the pool and gym, and the restaurant terrace for food was lovely. The staff were incredible as well - great service, super welcoming and friendly, and put up with my VERY broken french :).

We adore Novotel Avignon Centre and have stayed there several times. It is extremely conveniently situated by the station with easy access to town ( a few minutes walk, but outside the really touristy area.) The staff are so friendly and accommodating, enabling us to leave bags while we visit Arles, do some cycling then return to Avignon. The rooms are very comfortable, the food super and the pool….. oh the pool is just perfect under that hot sun!

Reasonable stay spoilt by bad experience. Booked a taxi with receptionist on night of 16/9 to take us to TGV station next morning at 7:15am. When taxi hadn’t arrived, I asked reception to please check and was told their colleague hadn’t booked last night as requested so she’d book another. While I was waiting outside a private vehicle pulled up and a woman driver walked inside. Then a taxi pulled up and said he was free. Before I could get in, the receptionist indicated the private car was what she had ordered and we should use that. A less than 10 minute drive cost 26 euros when it should have been 10-15 euros at most. When I called the receptionist back she said her colleague was always messing up and they’d spoken to her. When I replied that was not my point, rather that I’d ordered a taxi not a limousine and wanted to speak to the manager, I was told they were away that day. The money is not so much the issue even though it was exorbitant. It’s more that I feel cheated and suspect there’s some scam operating. I have still not received a call from the hotel to properly explain. A sad ending to a reasonable hotel stay. Beware fellow travellers!
