This hotel is in a beautiful old house. From outside is very nice but the rooms aren´t good. We were given a room (Room 2) on the ground floor, tiny and claustrophobic, with no windows or ventilation. Just enough space for the bed and the suitcase. Small bathroom too. The worst was the noise of the trains passing by (it is just next to the train tracks) so we could not sleep very much. It was clean and within walking distance to the city, although you need to cross a small tunnel, which, in my view, was a bit dodgy at night. Breakfast was nice and you could take it in the small terrace but there was a gentlement a bit intense, continuously watching guests (what you eat, etc), a bit strange. We were disappointed because the price did not match the quality.
The location of the hotel was great, in very close proximity to the city wall of Avignon. The breakfast was very good and they had an automatic coffee machine. The owner was very nice and told us about a cute, older neighborhood not widely publicized in Avignon that appeared to be a former textile mill area. There was also off-street parking behind the hotel. We only stayed one night but we enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here for two nights and it was the worst experience of our two week trip. It certainly isn’t worthy of a 3 star rating. We stayed in several other 3/4 star hotels during our holiday and they were of a much higher standard. Firstly we didn’t say in the main hotel, instead we were in a grotty building off the driveway. See attached photo. The decor was dated and the room smelled of drains. We couldn’t open the window or blinds to let in any light or fresh air because the window looked out onto the entrance and driveway to the hotel. Towels were thin and old, there was a dirty used sponge on the sink and the bed and pillows had no protector under the bedding. No fine touches such as a toilet roll holder, just a half used roll of paper left from the last visitor. Breakfast was average, tables, table mats were dirty and cereal dispensers had the same residue of food on the handles on both days. Two men presumably the owners didn’t seem to be able to cope with topping up food and clearing the tables so everyone could sit down. I also think they are cheeky expecting residents to pay for parking that is behind the building. None of the other hotels that we stayed in charged for parking.…
Stayed for a couple of weeks so were given an apartment which was spacious and comfortable. Mr Phillipe is very helpful and friendly, and chatted with us at breakfast each morning (fresh continental), giving us tips on where to visit in and around Avignon (along with a few jokes :-) ). Room was cleaned every morning. Parking on site, and a 5 minute walk to Central Station. Location was great for the city and surrounding attractions. Will definitely go back.
The hotel is located in a great location. It is not far away from both of bus station and train station. I have made a correct decision to select this perfect place since it is very comfortable to travel to other cities nearby Avignon by public transportation and it is also not take too much time to walk to the center of Avignon. This hotel is running by family, so I met them every breakfast time with an excellent services. Therefore my 4 nights of staying here were convenience and memorable one.
