A kettle with tea and infusion bags, a coffee machine, a (glass) bottle of water would render the nice old fashioned room more up-to-date
The plus points are it’s location, overlooking the sea. We booked a double disabled room but got a twin, not that good for a wedding anniversary! However it had a walk in shower and raised toilet.
Some issues with emptying the bathroom bin, and the maid removed a screwdriver I needed for my disabled scooter. They did find it the next day.
The restaurant was unbookable until the last night
which meant we had to find somewhere to eat that was disabled friendly.
Parking is a nightmare! It’s on street or in an underground car park, albeit at a discounted rate, however if you can find a space you should pay at a pay & display, times are Monday-Saturday, 9-12, 2 -7 but there seems to be no enforcement, we saw a car with a ticket dated 3 days ago!
The website said all rooms had tea & coffee making facilities, but no, we were given a kettle, but had to pay a 20€ deposit. It also says room service but no.
If they sorted out the restaurant, tea and coffee facilities gave us a room we had booked (double not twin) and room service it might make a 4 star.
The price is a bit high for a 3 star, but as they say location, location, location.
Very rude staff, lifts not working, dirty room, filthy carpet, extremely old and dated.
This was possibly the noisiest room I’ve ever encountered, coupled with the fact that the curtains let in all of the hotels exterior lights and the sun, it was almost impossible to sleep.
Breakfast was equally as bad!
On check out, I definitely encountered a member of staff that clearly should look for another career far away from hospitality, she could only grunt and mutter “oui”
Not at all impressive and a place that I would stay well clear of, probably on par with the worst that travelodge could offer, in fact have had far better experiences at a travelodge!
Very clean and stylish hotel .
The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and spacious for a couple (double comfort).
It was a little noisy at night as we had a city room so we could hear people in the street outside however I would definitely not let this put me off returning!
Buffet breakfast was great and plenty to choose from and good value we thought.
I would recommend a stay!
We had such a fantastic week here. The staff are very welcoming. A special shout out to Laura at front of house for the evening meals. Laura is such an asset to the hotel, she looked after us with 1st class customer care & she bought joy to our evenings.
The hotel is well equipped & there is a facility to borrow beach paraphernalia ie. Sun umbrellas & chairs which is really useful.
The quality of food at breakfast & evening dinner is really good & can’t be faulted.
There is a small bar although it is tucked away by the Reception area & not clearly advertised. Great for an extra drink after a post dinner stroll.
We were so spoilt with our balcony, it was huge & captured the sea view perfectly.
There is literally only 1 thing that I feel could be improved & that was the carpet in our rooms. It was quite old & heavily stained.
Apart from that, Hotel Balmoral is truly wonderful & I would love to go back someday!
Thank you to all of the staff especially Laura!
