Beautiful hotel in Menton. Close to the beach, the train station and main shopping area. The hotel owner was very nice, welcoming and helpful. We had two rooms, a double for us and a twin for our 18 and 14 year old. The breakfast was lovely too. The hotel was also very clean. We had great stay and would recommend highly.

Very sweet and helpful staff. Good location. The hotel is located near the beach and the train station. Good value. It's a good place to stay to in Menton and a nice base to explore the Cote d'Azur. I would stay here again.

We booked 3 nights in this hotel which was recommended to us by locals for its location and its price.

Our first impression was that the owners were very friendly.

After having been charged for the 3 nights (breakfast included) we were introduced to our bedroom. It was small but renovated and clean and it was located on the first floor, with a view on a busy street. Considering the location, we surprisingly always had a good night's sleep: we did not experience the noise we expected and the mattress was firm and comfortable.

However, on the first morning we could not open the blinds which were obviously jammed. When we informed the owner about the trouble, she did not seem to be surprised but she did not offer any solution. She only said she would call someone to have them fixed after our departure (the next day was a holiday). So we had to cope with a very dark room for 2 more days.

When we returned to our room later that day, the bed was roughly done. The bathroom was as we left it. The trash had not been emptied and we did not have any new soap or body wash. I thought the cleaning lady had just been oblivious so in the evening I asked the owner for 2 samples for the next morning. He replied that soaps and shower gels were only offered on the first day because the guests were supposed to come with their own products. As I managed to get 2 samples for the second night, I expected to get the same on the third, plus a new hand soap. Unfortunately, when we came back late that night I realized that the bed was again roughly done and that there were no shower gel samples and no hand soap at our disposal in the bathroom, which did not seem to have been cleaned although the trash had been emptied this time! I found it a pity because the owner knew we had no shower gel/soap with us and we had found him and his wife very nice and helpful so far. Moreover, we have stayed at a few 2 star hotel in France where we've daily received new shampoo/shower gels and soaps and where our bedroom and bathroom had been cleaned everyday.

We daily paid 7euros each for our breakfast. For this price, each of us got a small pain au chocolat and a small croissant, 3 slices of fresh bread with jam, a small glass of orange juice (not fresh but tasty) and a cup of good coffee. I think it is a fair deal because if you want to have breakfast in a café, you'll have to spend pretty much the same without having the possibility to get any extra for free.

My conclusion is that I would highly recommend this hotel for a one-night stay only because then you can be certain to get a clean bathroom with fresh towels, shower gel/hand soap as well as a bed neatly done. And if the blinds are defective when you leave on the next morning, who cares?

The hotel has a great price value rate, nice rooms with spacious bathroom for a two stars hotel in France. Service was very nice.

The single thing that completely ruined our stay was the heavy smoke smell in the room, that even contaminated our clothes simply by staying there for one single night.

The room was a no smoking room and at checkin we did not realize about the smell problem as the window was open when we entered the room. We closed it and went away for a walk but when coming back to the room later that day, an horrendous smoke small was present in all the room. Disgusting for the both of us (and consider that we are both casual smokers, thus less prone to be bothered by smoke smell).

Very good location, very helpful staff, clean room-bathroom, close to the sea but not too close to feel overwhelmed with noisy people all time of the day or night. Close to the railway station but not too close to be disturbed by the trains at night.
Very modest breakfast though.

Perfect hotel. Incredibly reasonably priced. Very helpful staff. Room clean. A walk to the centre of town but ate well at a local recommended restaurant. Parking outside the hotel which was important to us.

We stayed here last year and the owner claimed that he only speaks French and he was a grump. We stayed for four nights and asked to leave one night early with two days notice. When the time came to leave, we were charged for the last night but he wanted us out of the room by check-out time so he could book it twice. When we came back this year with a group and an Italian guide, it turns out that he speaks perfect Italian. He was much nicer because the Italian woman, knowing his nature, asked him to behave. If you are traveling as a couple or alone, watch out because he is sadistic at best.

As we arrived, the quarrel started at once with the sour man in the reseption. We had a lot of trouble with the payment, as the ammount we should pay was drawn twice. We are experienced travellers, and there is no doubt that le Parisien will be remembered as a rare, negative experience.

Response from HOTELPARISIEN, Gérant at Hôtel Parisien
Responded 15 Jan 2014

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The room was clean but small and in need of some updating in the bathroom, One thing I found disturbing was all the dirty laundry strewn down the side of stairs leading to the second floor. This was dangerous as the sheets and towels were not collected until all the rooms had been cleaned and had to be stepped over. Talk about health and safety!

Stayed here for a week in July. Hotel is what you can expect from a two-star hotel I guess. Host is very nice but do not speak much English. The rooms are OK and the location is great; close to the beach, about 15 min walk to old town of Menton and 7 min walk to train station where you can easily go to Nice, Monaco or Italy.
