A fine old Belle Époque hotel overlooking Menton, with a garden in front, full of citrus trees, separating the hotel from traffic noise in that direction. While the facade remains very fine, otherwise it has to be said that the interior has largely lost its antique character. The ground floor reception area is modern and a bit second rate and the first floor restaurant, though it retains echoes of the hotel’s history, is sadly a buffet arrangement. We had a room a few floors up, facing the sea, with a small balcony. It was quiet and comfortable (king size bed). Clean bathroom with a good shower, though perhaps the wc seemed a bit close to the bed. The positives are that the hotel is relatively inexpensive, quiet and right in the centre of Menton and you can walk easily to the sea, up into the old town and to the many, admittedly not terribly exciting, dining possibilities. If you feel like it, you can also walk along the water into Italy (approx one hour - don’t forget your passport). The hotel offers excellent covered parking within the building. In addition, it also offers interesting-sounding group day trips from the hotel - eg to explore the architecture and history of nearby places like Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Set in wonderful grounds, this hotel has a lot to offer. Our room was upgraded to a garden view room which looked recently renovated. The hotel is very clean and in a great location, a short stroll to the promenade but enjoys a peaceful situation away from the main traffic thoroughfare. Breakfast was good. My only gripe was that the ‘24 hour bar’ appeared to be run by whoever was also working on the reception desk outside of what appeared to be 6pm to 9pm. This meant only certain drinks were available between these times. 17:45 we wanted a mojito before heading out to dinner but had to wait until the barman turned up at 18:00 as the receptionist couldn’t make cocktails. 21:15 we wanted an Irish Coffee but the man working on the reception said he could not make it despite it being on the drinks menu. I think if customer expectations were correctly set, 24 hr bar but with some drink restrictions outside certain hours, we would not have been so dissatisfied. I would however still recommend this hotel and would stay here again if visiting Menton.

Although you can stay at hotels by the sea you can then suffer with the noise at night. This hotel is set in a lovely garden and is very peaceful. It is an easy walk into town. The railway station is a 6 minute walk away which takes you direct to Monaco or into Italy. We arrived early and were allowed to leave our luggage to go and explore the town. There are many great places to eat and Menton is set in truly beautiful surroundings with the sea at the front and mountains at the back. We had to check out at 12 but left our luggage again to retrieve it before our train journey. Staff are great and speak perfect English as well as other languages.

Dear tripAdvisor community, we spent our vacation at the Vacanciel Menton from the 29th of September to the 6th of October 2018. We had a great vacation in a wonderfull and stylish hotel. The hotel is a Gem in the middle of a magnificent Orangeraie Park with lemon and orange trees. The hotel is prime location within the city of Menton: - 5 min walk to the railway station, 7 minutes by train to Monaco. - 5 Minutes walking to several beaches. - Immediate walking access to the high street (supermarkets, Pharmacy and Various Regional and French department stores). - Immediate walking access to cafees, restaurants and bars. Special mention to the wonderful garnered park around the hotel, the food diversity and the friendly staff. Eleni & Stof

Although I stayed over for one night on a business trip, this is a hotel targeting the older generation holiday makers. This hotel had a simple and decent room with a relatively decent breakfast. Price was excellent.

We stayed here for 5 nights in September. The hotel is in a good position near to shops resuand walking distance to the sea. It has good parking which was one of the main reasons for staying and is easy walking distance to the railway station. It’s easy to commute to Nice ,Monaco or any of the other resorts on the coast. The only bad thing about the hotel is it’s quite old fashioned, there is very little service and you seem to have to clear away your own breakfast dishes which is not what I would have expected. The room was clean but quite small and the bathroom needed the shower cleaning properly. On the whole it was good value for money .

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever been. The room was dirty. The shower was covered in black mould. Dust everywhere. The window covered with stains. Wifi didn't work. Rude unhelpful receptionists, especially the one called Daniela. The only relatively positive thing was breakfast. All that for €90?! Never again! Avoid it at all costs.

The building was back at the end of the last century “The Hotel De Venise”, one of the many palaces around Menton and the Riviera that during the Belle Epoque was frequented by the European aristocracy in search of mild weather and sun even in winter. Indoor is perfectly modernised but keeping the charm of the old times. The hotel is surrounded by gardens with exotic plants, palm and lemon trees. Excellent location just 5 minutes from the historic centre very close to the railway station and 5 minutes’ walk to the sea. There are many restaurants bars and supermarkets around. Staff was great, excellent customer service and very helpful and friendly all the time. The reception is open 24 hours and in the huge lobby, there are plenty of comfortable armchairs and a very convenient bar serving drinks at a reasonable price. The room was modern and clean and the bathroom spacious with good complimentary toiletries and hot running water every time. The towels were very clean and changed every day and the air conditioning was excellent as the weather outside was very hot. The breakfast was a fabulous buffet style with lots of different choices to eat what makes difficult to decide what to eat, there were so many things… amazing; and the staff at the breakfast hall was very friendly too. The gardens around the hotel are big with many tables and chairs to sit around, there are lights everywhere, very stylish lamps that make the plants and the trees look so charming at night and makes the place really safe too. Menton is a lovely place very relaxing and family friendly, a lovely old town just a short trip to Monaco and Italy. The food and the wines are wonderful everywhere in the area as is a concoction of Italian and French gastronomy that makes the trip worth.
