$275 a night for no wifi, no 'mountain view' and random hair everywhere. There has to be a better place in Menton! Normally can live with wifi for a night but not when you pay almost 300 bucks a night! Room is stark and basic. Bed is basic and has hair on it.

Hotel's Favourite
After marvellous week in Montpellia took train to Menton, only one stop to the Italian border. 10 min walk down hill from train station and along the ocean shore was the hotel. Great staff, small bar in lobby. The room facing the ocean with a balcony, table chairs was amazing. From my queen size bed I could see down the coast and the glittering water and hear the surf. Just what I needed and booked a 4th night. Small fridge which held my drink and grocery items. Enormous marble bathroom. Loads of channels on TV and wifi excellent.

Having stayed the previous three days at the Princess & Richmond Hotel next door, I could not extend my stay there as they were fully booked so I instead opted to remain in Menton staying at the Riva Art & Spa Hotel. And I'm very glad the I did. It's fairly well located, not too far from the Menton railway station (note : Menton and not Menton-Garavan), about ten minutes walk. Check-in was very simple and easy and the nice lady explained everything to me. The room was a cheaper rear, mountain-view room but was fine! The view was actually pleasant and there was a balcony with two chairs and a wee table. The room was a good size and was clean. Mini-bar, shampoo, TV, internet wifi worked well, hot water, good air-conditioning.......not much more you could ask for except.....a kettle with tea/coffee. Would really be nice if that was also in the room, but then maybe that's why it's 3 and not 4 star? Who knows. The buffet breakfast was lovely. Coffee machine with options, cereals, yoghurts, jams and marmalade, pastries, breads, croissants, boiled eggs, cheese and cold meat selections, fruit juices, fruit etc etc. A good spread and I believe that if you you wanted scrambled eggs or bacon you could order it as extra. But really, what is on offer on the buffet is more than adequate and it was fresh and tasty! Huge positive for this hotel is the big hot tub/jacuzzi on the roof open to the sun. To just sit in that jacuzzi was a wonderful experience! The hotel also offers various massages and has sun beds on the roof. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Just 30 metres from the hotel entrance are a couple of restaurants/bars.....and the bar at the end (Le Big Boss) was a great place to hang out in the evenings. Also be advised that although the hotel provides a typical laundry service, there is a self-service laundry with machines about 150 metres away. It is located on Avenue du Pigautier just next to the 'Belge Frites' takeaway. Maybe a useful thing for families with kids. Thought I had a great stay in Menton and thought this hotel was very god value for money.

Great location right on the beach. Comfortable rooms. Great jacuzzi on the roof top with a super view. The one drawback: The internet connection was spotty. Worked in the lobby but not so much in the room.

We checked-in the 1st room at around 23:00 and the air conditioning wasn't working, so we had to change room at midnight. In the 2nd room the windows didn't isolate any sound coming from the main street, as the sea view rooms where just on top of cars and motorbikes passing at high speed during the whole night. Therefore we had to change room a 3rd time the day after, where we got a bed with 2 separate mattress (with even holes in it) and a door lock that didn't work, so every time you wanted to go in your room we had to go to ask someone at the reception to come and open the door for us. At one point we even had a surprise visit from the maintenance guy, getting into our room while we where inside, even as the "do not disturb" sign was outside of the door! The lady (that behaved like if she probably was the manager) was extremely rude! She was trying to charge us extra for the room change (due to their air condition not working) and she was being super disrespectful: disgusting. At one point she even stated that the situation was difficult for her, without any empathy whatsoever for the difficulties that we, as paying customers were facing! Incredible, I wish such a mistreatment and low standard of service to nobody. In addition the rooms where very old, antiquated and the bathrooms where even worse. In every room where went, the radiator in the bathroom was losing pieces of paint and very rusty for example, the bathtub was dirty, the table in the terrace was disgustingly dirty too. And at the entrance steps we saw dead cockroaches.

Booked Hotel to enjoy Lemon Fest Parade from rooftop; day prior to fest we learned the Mayor canceled the parade and all other festivities due to Corona Virus scare/ outbreak. We booked hotel at 184 euro for the night, understanding we were paying for fest location and view of parade. When we learned fest/ parade was canceled, and hotel reduced their price on their website to 120 euro for the night we were staying, we asked for a 50euro return and was denied. We were told “We (the hotel) did not bring Corona Virus” and told no refund or any amount would be considered. There are several wonderful hotels within the city with amazing views and opera unities to relax; I would not recommend you stay here 100% because of their customer service and lack of compassion as a business. While I understand ”the hotel did not bring Corona Virus to Menton and cancel their parade; the only reason I chose their hotel over all the other wonderful locations was because of the parade; and the only reason they were able to charge 184 euro a night was because of the parade. So asking to pay normal rate after parade canceled, as posted on their site the day of (120 euro), does not seem to extreme; and being told “not our problem” is poor customer service and merits this review; not worth the hassle. Wonderful city; wonderful beach; we will visit again to see missed parade.... but will be staying at one of a hundred equally quality hotels (other than Rica) that bases their business philosophy on “a customer for life” vs “we already have your money”

We spent one night in the Hotel Riva before heading to the Nice airport. Beautiful location right on the Mediterranean. Large rooms, comfortable beds, and quiet. Make sure you get a room facing the Med — it’s well worth the extra cost with the sights and sounds of the waves crashing on the shore. Not a big hotel — about 40 rooms on 6 floors. Ask for a room on a higher floor to avoid some of the street sounds. Breakfast is very good — lots to choose from including some hot (bacon & mini omelettes), plenty of pastries and fruit. Very nice. Front desk staff are very friendly.

I stayed here with my daughter for a post exam treat. We paid extra for a seafront room, well worth it. We had breakfast which had good variety of breads, cheese, cereal etc. Experienced no issue with WIFI or cleanliness. Didn’t visit the Spa. Only minor issue was room door did have to be slammed hard to get it to shut. About a 15 min walk to the Old Town and nicest beach.

Because I usually try to keep reviews positive. Pros: Nice location; right beside beach which is beautiful. Reasonably comfortable beds but pillows are not (like bricks). Front desk, breakfast, & cleaning staff were pleasant. Cons: Terrible wifi (you need to constantly sign in, the signal is very poor, and it dumps you back onto your cellular without warning mid usage) Needs some maintenance (general things like tiling, fresh paint, sockets not working... but maybe start with an easy fix like the doors that it seems every guest is forced to slam in order to secure their room. Spa staff were unfriendly to other guests (we saw/overheard treatment and follow up comments by spa staff) ... guests they were talking about (& mocking) didn’t speak French. Snarky & derogatory comments by staff after explaining there was no alcohol allowed on roof top deck, despite their being no sign indicating this. I don’t think couple (who only seemed to speak English) understood but we heard and it was very unprofessional. Cigarette smoke comes in from other guests rooms/balconies. Can’t imagine wanting to book here again, but mostly due to spa staff’s lack of professionalism. Other stuff is minor/fixable.
