I have had the pleasure to have stayed twice in the Narev Hotel, and have the staff most helpful, very courteous, along with excellent location with able restaurants and bars so close the hotel and in general a quit road and within a few minutes walk to both the beach and Menton sncf station.

This is a very comfortable hotel in a central location. We had a three bedded room on the top floor with a balcony and had great views towards the old town and could also see the sea. It was very quiet, warm and friendly. The bathroom looked newly refurbished. The only criticism was a musty smell in the room. I would have also liked tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. We would recommend and will not hesitate to use again in the future.

Having stayed at several hotels in Menton, the Hotel Narev's offers excellent value for their hotel rates throughout the year. The location allows you to get everywhere within a few minutes. The hotel is in quiet location without any noise from ambulances, police sirens, car traffic, restaurants etc. If you like breakfast, you get it served in your room. The family owning and managing the hotel assures great service on a personal level every day. The hotel has a large professional gym in a separate building across the building which is available for a reasonable fee. I am definitely recommending the hotel based on my experience over a long period.

The hotel is well located. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The parking from the hotel is small but convenient. Breakfast was ok but our room had a nice view from the balcony. It was perfect for a short stay in Menton.

The hotel is within comfortable walking distance of so many sights and restaurants. Easy to check in. Limited parking is supposed to be available on-site, but I parked in the Town Hall car-park on the next block which was easy to access and secure. My room was comfortable and a good size. It was nice to have a little balcony with a view. The bathroom had poor lighting – this could be why the mould on tiles in the shower hasn’t been noticed or cleaned. Also, the liquid soap dispenser is on the wall next to the basin – on the other side of the dark bathroom if you’re already in the shower! You might want to take your own soap, unless you’re happy to step out of the bath to get some from the wall dispenser. At check-in I was given a remote control for the TV, and I was told there was another one in the room I’d also have to use. Very confusing. In the end I could get sound but no pictures. Good thing there’s so much to do in Menton that I really didn’t need the TV! Given that the Fête du Citron was happening, I was charged high-season rates, which is reasonable. This is not a cheap hotel!

Dear MeredithAussie, We took your detailed comment with a lot of attention. We are happy to discover that you happened a nice stay in our hotel. Indeed, we have the opportunity to offer a great location, in the heart of Menton and next to the Lemon Festival. Your remarks are offering us the opportunity to find our weak points, to improve them with the target to offer a great experience to our guests. We hope to welcome you back soon for a future stay in Menton. Kind regards, Narev’s Hôtel

Desk closes at night. No wifi, asked manager to reset modem, she said she did,but still no wifi. Rooms are small. Manager just argued that there was wifi, but no. I was not happy about this hotel and I would not recommend it.

The hotel is in a brilliant location, close to the old town and port and only a short walk from the train station. Our room was small but in was one of their cheaper rooms so no problem and from the balcony there was a nice view of the sea in one direction and the hills of Menton in the other -so far so good. Unfortunately the location is the best feature of this hotel which is rated three stars but has a very two star feel. The décor is tired and shabby, especially the bathroom. Normally we would overlook this aspect but when the rest of the offer was so poor we wondered how the hotel has a three star rating. When we arrived in the evening the reception was closed so we had to get ourselves in using a door code ( which worked on the forth attempt). This set the scene. Everything on offer was very basic, no extras , for example there was just one small thin bath sized towel between the two of us. Internet is described as “available” but only worked in the rather chilly reception area ( despite the signal being strong in our room the link was “interrupted” if we tried to connect). So on our last evening after a lovely meal in Menton we return to our room and I prepare this review while drinking our own whisky and eating our own chocolate ( strictly forbidden according to a notice in the lift). Not a lot of choice as reception is closed and the mini bar has virtually nothing in it. They can't get me for it!

over-priced and accommodations are really poor, breakfast is as good as nothing, mini-croisant, mini-bread, mini-glas juice, etc. you have to pay extra for everything. the interior decoration of the hotel is not impressive/suitable for a 3-star hotel, outdated and looks messy in the dining area. no light on the halls and the elevator really make so much noise.

I have recently spent overnight in Menton at the Narev hotel. Even if you have nowhere to go do not spend overnight there. Room was very old: carpet, blankets (as in the old days), bath towels old and torn, broken toilet, small twin beds (army type), broken light in the bathroom. Very expensive breakfast (Euros 8) for getting one bun, one portion of butter and jam. I wonder why and how the Narev hotel is a 3*** hotel..!!! I paid the mighty total of Euros 122 for 2 guests. A very upset guest and yet used to travelling in France...! Anne, Canada

A group of us used this hotel as a one night stop-off point in Menton while we were touring on our motorbikes. We weren't particularly looking for anywhere fancy, more a place to stop off for the night, get something to eat, sleep and head off the following morning. We arrived about 5pm after a very long day in the saddle and our first interaction with staff was far from welcoming. When asked where we should park our bikes, we were told there was a car-park under the hotel, but to gain any access (despite having a reservation) we would have to give over card details and passports. A nice trusting, friendly start!! Gaining access to the car park was via a lift which we were pretty much left to work out ourselves. I then got told off for being down in the lower part of the hotel by a member of staff, despite having walked through the only exit from the car park which was clearly marked exit. Room was okay, bathroom big enough and the beds did the job. From a location perspective, it was a five minute walk to the restaurants and bars in Menton. So, no issues there. The best bit of all was when we got back at 10pm to find the hotel locked with no way for our party to gain access to the hotel. We rang the door-bell for ages, called the hotel (no answer) and we're starting to consider finding a bench to sleep on, when thankfully some other residents turned up who had the access code for the door - that's right, the one we WEREN'T given!! A useful oversight by reception staff... :( Breakfast was average at best - nothing special. The receptionist also insisted in smoking like a chimney, despite a number of 'no smoking' signs being located around the hotel. To close, I'd give this no-stars if I could. Was glad to leave and won't be going back!!
