A really lovely traditional French hotel. Don’t expect 5 star. Incredible value, lovely staff. Easy walking distance to the beach and main restaurants. Stunning town. Train station 10 minutes to go to Italy. Takes 20 minutes to Ventimiglia! Great experience.
Delightful traditional, small hotel. Classic furnishings and character which we loved and appreciated. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Convenient location not too far from Railway Station. A very happy experience for us and we would happily stay there again
Centrally situated in Menton, 8 minutes stroll to railway station, similar to bus station, and in other direction, to old town. 4 minutes to promenade. Courteous and helpful reception staff, available from 3pm to 9pm, and up to 11am for checking-out. Bedroom compact but with sufficient space around 3 sides of double bed. Ample shelf storage, but minimal hanging space. Shower room tiny, with wash hand basin small and rectangular, with an overhanging shelf. So, when rinsing mouth or face, need to stand at free end of it, to minimise wetting your feet ! The shower cubicle, however, is quite spacious, in that you can avoid touching any sides when bending ! Shower hose and water temperature easy to manage. Shelf provided for toiletries, but no safety grab handle. Floor is ridged to provide some fall protection, but care still needed. Hair-dryer good. Air-conditioning unit worked well, in October. TV has usual 2 dozen or more French channels, plus 3 in Italian, 2 German, and BBC World and CNN for English language viewing. (Spanish channels weren't functioning during my stay.) Wi-fi signal strong. 4 sockets provided in my room for charging or using own appliances. Rooms serviced to a high standard. No safe provided, but good, traditional, keyed door locks. Overall, pleasantly surprised at value for money. ( Did not opt to take breakfast.)…
We didn't get the two single beds as we had ordered and which was confirmed before we came. The young receptionist was not very cooperative. The room was nice and clean and old fashioned which can be charming. You can hear what the couple next door is doing or talking about. It was a nice, thin duvet instead of the usual sheets. The breakfast is not good - thin juice, thin chokolate, hard bread and boiled coofee. Breakfast is not worth the price. We told the receptionist and he suggested Vanilla Bakery which we tried but is very expensive and not good. Instead we went to La Regence 2 min down the road and it is perfect.
Good location in Menton, in the center of town, short walk to the beach. Albeit having a room opposit the reception/breakfast room is certainly not the quietest place in this hotel. Keep this in mind when booking if you are easily disturbed/awakened.
THE hosts werw very kind. Although THE plane arrived in Nice 1 hour late, they werw waiting for us and se checked in without problema. Beautiful room, very clean, cleaned Daily, towels changed Daily etc. We thank pur hosts.
Hotel Richelleu is small, clean family hotel with a friendly atmosphere, which is in a good location and whose hosts were very pleasant and who resolved our every request. An ideal place to stay if you want to be close to Monte Carlo without being crowded. Our recommendation for all travelers.
My stay in Menton was to see the orange and lemon festival, which is in February /March. It is a wonderful event and from Richelieu you are close to all, but still a quiet area. Take the train to Nizza and book a ticket for the carneval (if you like it comfortable, as me). The rooms are comfortable, cosy and with all amenities you need to feel at home. Staff and owners are always helpful and friendly. English, italian is no problem. I didn't try my German as I prefer to speak the local language, French. I hope to come in summer to enjoy the beach in Menton which is much much better than in Nizza.
Perfect place, very pleasant, excellent service and location. Very close with train station (8 mn from monaco) and city center. Direction and staff very professionnel. The place to be for short or long stays.
Having a great stay @Hotel Richelieu. The location is perfect! Everything you might want is within a 10 min. walk: trainstation, beach, shopping area, market and supermarkets, café's and restaurants. The hotel is charming and French. The staff is more than welcoming and friendly. Always ready to help or to offer advise, available for a friendly chat (in several languages). The rooms might be a bit small, but keep the 2-star rating in mind. The room has almost everything you need, including airconditioning. Keep in mind, this is not one of those big and anonymous hotel chain hotels. The cleanliness is ok and the rooms are quite quiet, especially at the back of the hotel. (You might hear guests coming in at night or going for breakfast in the morning.) The breakfast is continental with a French twist. I definitely recommend staying here and will be back if I come to Menton again. …
